My Ob suggested Mucinex instead of regular Robitussin for getting CM thicker if anyone is interested.

Mucinex is basically robitussen in pill form, it doesn't make cm thicker, it thins it out. It won't give you more cm but if you have thick cm, mucinex can thin it out and help it be more inviting for sperm to swim into.

Jeez - I guess my doctor is just an idiot then for giving me the wrong information to help my CM. I guess I'll stop asking my doctor who has actually attended medical school and just get all my information from you Michelle.

Re: CM

I think Donna meant Thicker as in more Egg white quality, because before that its usually too watery.

Watermy CM is a sign of a problem....lets not confuse that, because eggwhite CM should be on the thick side.

My new RE at NSUH actually reccommended Mucinex as well. And on another board I go on, a lot of the women use it and swear buy it.

Its sold in bottle form now as well.

Re: CM

That’s when congestion can build up and the mucus increases. It becomes thicker and moves more slowly through your system. That’s when “Mr. Mucus™” can enter your life and make you miserable.

Taking Mucinex® can send mucus on its way.

As the only U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, long-lasting expectorant, Mucinex® loosens and thins out mucus. Mucinex® is safe and effective in helping to relieve chest congestion so you can cough more productively. That’s how you get rid of mucus and breathe easier. And that’s how you can show Mr. Mucus™ the way out!

Not sure why you have to be so sarcastic Doodles...but, here is the description of what mucinex does.

And I don't know why you feel the need to pass yourself off as a doctor and make me feel like the information I was told by a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL was incorrect.

Oh, but I should be careful or you'll want to leave again

Re: CM

I just wanted to point out that every one describes things differently, and I know that many people get too watery CM, mucines thickens it , it eliviates the mucus in your body but I do think Michelle your taking what shes saying the wrong way, she describing what her Dr advised to get the CM thick and eggwhite like. Eggwhite CM should NOT be watery. Its needs to be thick enough to not break apart.

Re: CM

I was just told that it thins it out ....and if you read the product that's what it claims to do.

I am far from a doctor nor do I ever claim to be part of the medical field. I am just a woman ttc...and try to help out as much as possible.

I am not here for any drama, .... either way mucinex can help...

Re: CM

Wow -- way to make a person feel like crap.

Redstar has been very helpful to many of us here. She does not make anyone's decision for them, just helps provide some information and/or persepective for those who want it.

Maybe it wasn't solicited in this particular case, but I think she was trying to clarify and not to discredit what Donna's Dr. said.

I have learned so much through her but my decisions are my own, based on my knowledge, intuition, and consultations. I have gotten great advice and tons of food for thought on this board. Hopefully it will bring us all to BFPs. That's all ANY of us want -- for ourselves and for each other.

I am sorry this thread got nasty, it makes me very sad.

Oh, while I rarely, if ever, perpetuate the drama that is caused on this website I think an honest misunderstanding took place here. Everyone please calm down. Can we just give people the benefit of the doubt here?

IMO, Redstar's advice and postings have helped me and many others (those who post and those who are lurkers). Actually, far more than many RE's and ob/gyn's out there. While she is not in the medical profession she has spent hours and hours educating herself about the very complex issue of TTC and infertility and has unselfishly spent many hours posting that information (stats, studies, etc.) on these boards for the rest of us. Much of what she posts is cited medical information. Not her opinion and not just her experience.

This is a very emotionally charged board. In a perfect world, none of us would be here. Speaking as someone who has been TTC for 10 months now (and I have the utmost respect and admiration for those couples on here who have had a much longer struggle) I would not wish this experience on anyone. This board and infertility are supposed to help us on this very difficult journey. Let's not turn this forum into a bullying clique like some of the other forums. Aren't we all adults? Don't we have lives?

Everyone relax. Breathe. Those of us desperate to conceive don't need the drama.

As far as not posting, that's the individual's choice and for as many individual lurkers out there, there are reasons not to post. Please let's not turn this into the equivalent of a schoolyard fight. We are all adults.

Best of luck to all and thank you to those who continue to post information for the benefit of us all.

Thank you shamrock I also agree she was trying to be helpful!! I read both of your links and on the bottom it said worst side affect also affects cm just wish they would have included how!! I have always believed that if you have thick un-thining cm that it is not sperm friendly and that is why they tell you the robitussin and things such as mucinex can help!! THere are alot of people who have different views on different things and as we all know not all Medical professionals have the same advise or even the same views about different things. Alot of time even the proffesionals don't know what is what anymore I don't think anyone truely ever does. I think it is sad that this turned into what it did because of two different opinions. I believe it is possible for tow different people to be told two different things and just because one contradicts the other doesn't mean anyone is trying to bash anyone else or even prove them wrong for that matter. I think everone in this porcess stresses and at times take things the wrong way and it turns into to a controversy instead of everyone coming together!!! JMO though!! I don't ever post when it comes to these things but I fealt I needed to voice the way I fealt!!! Sorry if I made anyone mad or hurt anyones feelings!!!

I don't like getting involved in drama but I think some of the comments made are down right mean. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. There is absolutely no reason to try and make someone feel bad.

Then why don't you just skip the post, not read it or read it and ignore it? Just because it's not your preference doesn't mean it wouldn't be beneficial to someone else. Since when should one person or a small group decide what is posted or what is not posted?

Personally, I think a lot of what is posted on NFR is mindless but I don't tell others that they shouldn't post. they have every right to post whatever they want within he confines of Ron and Liz's rules. I just move on... like I'm doing now, back to work.

Edited for punctuation.

Redstar has been extremely helpful and supportive to me. I think your coming over and posting that she's the reason that you, your DW and several others don't post here was mean and unnecessary. If you choose not to post here, that is a personal choice, but don't come here and post to make someone feel bad.
