Co-sleeping moms
I have a question- Does your DC start off in your bed? Does DC go to bed when you go to bed?
I ask because- Ryan has been sleeping with us for a few months now- Every night I try and get him to sleep in his crib- (i lay with him on the couch until he falls asleep and then I put him in his crib) He stays in his crib a few hours- then gets up to be with me- Than in the middle of the night I wake up and move him back in- and then he gets up again... So basically we play musical beds all night long...
After some good advice from Barb- Im deciding to just let him sleep there all night long- We will all sleep better at night if we stop playing musical beds- and get some uninterupted sleep..
My only issue is this- I dont know what to do at night with putting him to sleep- the only time I get to do things around the house- or just get time to myself is when he is sleeping- DO I have to go to bed when he goes to bed? Do I get him to fall asleep and then just leave him in my bed? Im just so scared of him getting up and walking off the bed
Please share your "bedtime/ sleep" routine with me

Re: Co-sleeping moms
Not technically a co-sleeper still but Antonio had spent many a night in our bed...
I would put him in his crib, so you could have your few hours of "alone time". When he does that first waking just keep him in your bed till the morning.
Who knows one night he might just suprise you and not wake up...but you probably will!

Re: Co-sleeping moms
I put them to bed first and when I'm ready to go to sleep I move them into my bed.

Re: Co-sleeping moms
Julia has been sleeping with us since she's been 3 months old.
I usually just let her fall asleep on the couch, and do what I have to do around the house, then take her up to bed with me when I'm ready.
There was a time I would put her in my bed when she fell asleep, but I would get SO nervous of her falling off my bed, and once she decided to come off my bed herself, and I heard her calling me from the top of the stairs, I almost had a heart attack!!
So now she just stays on the couch with me till I'm ready to go to sleep.

Re: Co-sleeping moms
Marissa, I am in the same boat. I get so nervous about leaving him in our bed since he is so mobile now. This is our routine as of now (it wouldn't be half as bad if DH would be consistent with me)
7:15-7:30 bath 7:30-7:45 bottle and story in my bed 8:00-8:30 usually asleep stay with him until 9:00 or so when he is in a deep sleep then he goes to his crib when we are ready to go to sleep usually around 11 or 11:30 he'll wake usually 3 or 4 hours later then I bring him back to our bed when he's sound asleep like in an hour DH usually brings him back to his crib.
If it were up to me I'd let him just stay in our bed. It's so hard because I don't want to encourage bad habits for the future but I don't really know what his needs are at this point

Re: Co-sleeping moms
When we co-slept I put Noah in my bed at around 7 pm and just put him in a nest of pillows, I would then go back downstairs and do what I had to do, and when I went to bed at 11 or so, I would just move the pillows and sleep!!!

Re: Co-sleeping moms
I would love to know to. Dd will not sleep in her crib lately, even for a few hours. I do not want to go to bed with her, but am also afraid she will fall off the bed.

I do know what you mean- but I don't think they get a good nights sleep in bed, either. All 3 of us end up waking eachother with tossing and turning, etc. I would PAY GOOD MONEY to have her start off in her crib for a few hours, even if it meant waking up at midnight and getting in to bed with me. At least then she would have a few hours of soldi sleep. It would be nice to have her in a safe place for a few hours so I could do something without having to worry about her waking and rolling off the bed. I have even considered getting one of those bed rail things for my bed.

Re: Co-sleeping moms
Katie is not up for climbing yet- but I have a pillow top and haven't been able to find rails high enough!
