Co-worker Vent
Today during study hall, one of the students comes up to me and asks me a chemistry question (note: I teach chemistry, but this is not my student). So, I try to clarify the worksheet for her and guide her through two questions. She still seemed a little confused but said she would work on it and if she had anymore questions she would ask. After study hall, I go into the faculty room and the student's teacher approaches me and says, "Next time one of my students have a question, direct them to me" This comment upset me.

Re: Co-worker Vent
That was definitely rude & uncalled for that she said that to you. Sounds like this teacher is jealous/insecure that one of his or her students is seeking help from someone else. That's her problem, not yours! I think that's very nice of you to help the student & this teacher SHOULD appreciate it!

Re: Co-worker Vent
That was obnoxious.... I would have replied something along the lines of "well, it was study hall and i was the teacher in charge, i know the material so i guided her."
i think she just sounds insecure like she's the only one that knows the matieral. what did she expect you to do in STUDY hall!! aren't the kids supposed to use that time to get support with their work?

Re: Co-worker Vent
It's that time of year when everyone has had it.
You did the right thing- what are your supposed to do tell the kid to talk to her own teacher.
Grrr.....Study hall can be even more of a hassle than a real class!
