College Graduation
Did you go to your college graduation ceremony? I went to school for undergrad at night so I didnt go to my graduation ceremony and sometimes I regret it.

Re: College Graduation
Yes I went.
I don't think I would have regretted it if I skipped it knowing that it was a long drawn out ceremony, boring & very impersonal.

Re: College Graduation
I went to the one for my major, but not the big one with my entire class. I went to StonyBrook, so I never saw most of the people in my major, no less everyone else. If I didn't go to the major graduation, I would not have regretted it. I'm not big on pomp and circumstances, and would have been just as happy to get my diploma mailed to me (which it was anyway... they just handed me a blank holder so they didn't have to worry about mixing them up).

Yes.
I wasn't going to go for grad school but I could tell my Dad really wanted us both to attend (he was a proud papa) so I went for him.

Re: College Graduation
I went and it was horrible. I graduated from a very large state school and their were over 5,000 graduating students. During the ceremony drunk kids booed the guest speaker off the podium and instead of handing us a diploma they asked us to stand up for 30 seconds, state "your graduated" and sat us down. That for 4 years of hard work?
I also never saw my parents becuase it was a madhouse during and after the ceremony. It was nice to sit with friends, but it was a ridiculous ceremony. All the others i went to for family were very nicely run.
And after all of this, I get grief from my parents because i had taken off my cap and gown and they never got an official picture of me in it.

Re: College Graduation
I did go to undergrad, as well as master's. Master's I could definitely have skipped and not missed anything, but I loved the undergrad one.

Re: College Graduation
I went. I was one of 5 graduating in my department, so if I skipped it would have been noticed when we were asked to stand and "turn your tassel on your mortarboard"

Re: College Graduation
Yes - I went. DH and I were in the same graduating class so it was really nice to see him in a sea of thousands of caps and gowns to jump up when I accepted my diploma.

Re: College Graduation
I went undergrad because I wanted to. I wasn't going to go to my grad one until my brother told me my mom was really upset, she really wanted to see it, so I went for her sake.

Re: College Graduation
I went to both undergrad and grad.
Actually, grad was better since DH graduated together- my with an MAT and him with an MBA- when I received my diploma and I was walking back to sit down , he met me and gave me a kiss to congratulate me...it was so sweet- ( actually thought he was going to propose right there- but he didn't)

Re: College Graduation
Yes, and my dad made me go to the baccueleurate (sp?) mass first at 9:00 AM and I was BEYOND hung over - I think I was still drunk from the night before. I was dying during mass. I felt better by the time we had the commencement ceremony.

Re: College Graduation
I went. It was the best day of my life. I can't say the ceremony wasn't long and boring, but it was the most beautiful, sunny day without a cloud in the sky (until just after it ended and the clous broke open with intense rain), but it was great sitting there with my friends. I was a few rows ahead of someone I knew who was basically MST3K-ing the ceremony,. iot was hilarious. And when they announced the deans of all the different colleges, I can't tell you how gratifying it was for us, ALL of us to Boo our dean.
It was our way of showing him and the whole school and the crowd assembled just how we felt about what he was doing to our program and the professors and younger students we loved.
