Yes I went.

I don't think I would have regretted it if I skipped it knowing that it was a long drawn out ceremony, boring & very impersonal.

Man, was it long & drawn out! ( I think they pride themselves on that!)
My parents didn't see me, ( before my name was called) so they totally thoguht I bailed, and I thought they did too!

I didn't go to grad school, but DH did & didn't want to go to his ceremony, but then he got an award, so his parents & I kinda made a big fuss over it. (we even got special VIP seats!) Chat Icon

Re: College Graduation

Yes. There were 8,000 Liberal Arts students graduating that day so no name call or anything.

We basically stood up in "schools".

"Will the school of psychology please rise. You have graduated."

The pics my parents have make us look like square headed ants. Chat Icon

Yup I went and my family drove up.

I'll never forget it either... it was may 19, 2002 and we woke up to SNOW on the ground and 30 degree weather!! I still wore my dress & sandals though (we had the ceremony inside). Chat Icon

Re: College Graduation

I went to both.
I was not going to go to my graduate school one, but then I figured I did all that work, I wanted to wear the gown and walk across the stage and hear my name.

Re: College Graduation

yep. Both Grad and Undergrad.

I think I'm going to go back for my EDs... I don't know if I'll go to that ceremony since I'll be at a different campus.

Yes

Anna Quindlen was suppose to be our guest speaker

she wrote her speech but didn't come at the last minute due to some stupid thing with some of the students

- but she published the speech a short while later, it was "A Short Guide to a Happy Life"
