Communion party. Home vs restaurant/hall
Help me decide. We have the VFW booked for $30 a person but our guest list is over 75 people. It cannot be cut, maybe one or 2 but nothing significant. But I'm thinking now that we should just have it at our house. There are pros and cons for both.
I can't post a poll but would love feedback. Party is at end of april

Honestly $30 a person is very reasonable. To me it would be worth it over stressing about having 75 people in my home at a time of year when the weather is iffy. It could easily be cold/rainy. You will still spend a good chunk of that money on catering at your home anyway plus all the cups/plates/napkins

is your home large enough to accommodate all those people if it is bad weather? If so, and you don't mind hosting, I'd do it at home. But that's because I'm cheap and I couldn't fathom spending $2500 minimum on a communion I think you could save a pretty penny by doing it at home.
If cost isn't an issue, then I would do the hall to save the stress.

I've had 2 communion parties, and for me, I would be willing to pay ANY price to avoid having it at home.

Having a party at home is so much work and you have to think about every detail.
For convenience I would choose a restaurant.
At least when the party is over you can come home to a nice clean relaxed house!

Re: Communion party. Home vs restaurant/hall
I have had parties that big at home in May and I would def do it out. If weather is bad all those people crammed in my house makes me crazy and I had a pretty big house at the time

Re: Communion party. Home vs restaurant/hall
Our communion is May 2nd.
For us we want to enjoy it and if its not nice weather, 50 ppl in my house as well as 15 kids is not enjoyable. we felt the weather was too unpredictable in early May, could be cold, could be hot, rainy etc. later in the month I might have chanced it with a tent but the temperature is what scares me most.
Plus its nice that after 4 hours, I walk out and am done. I dont need to clean a dish or pick up any garbage.
And really I am not sure it would be THAT much savings for us. After you do all the food, catering, get a waitress to make life easier, buy alcohol, paper products, decorations, tent, tables, chairs, and if we had it at home I was going to get a bounce house or something for the kids....it would be pretty expensive as well. Not AS expensive of course but still alot of money, so for the extra $$$ it becomes stressfree for me!
