At home christening party or in a restaurant/catering hall?
Hi everyone,
Has anyone had one child's christening at home And one in a restaurant or has anyone received quotes from restaurants and priced out having it at home as well? I'm trying to decide which one will be a better option. I feel like by the time I rent the chairs, tables, tents And cater the food, I might be better off just having it Somewhere for a lot less work!
TIA!

Re: At home christening party or in a restaurant/catering hall?
We just recently had DD's christening party in a restaurant. I can't remember what we paid per head, but for appetizers, salad course, pasta course, entree and dessert tray, with wine, beer and soda included it came to $2200. for about 50 people (a handful were kids).
I thought that was reasonable. And the best part is I didn't have to do anything and I didn't have to clean up!

Re: At home christening party or in a restaurant/catering hall?
We did the party at home and just a suggestion if you decide to go that route is to hire people to help set up and work the party. I actually got to hang out with my family and friends and it was great not to have to run around doing 3 things at once.
I started looking into places too late and we have a great sized yard so it was the best option for us.

I've done about $25 per person at home. Not including rentals (we have tables and chairs).
At a restaurant, it's usually double.
I serve alcohol. Never a fancy cake.
I usually have 40 people. It's stressful to have it at home... But cheaper (and easier to have entertainment).

We did a sit-down dinner at a restaurant. We paid about $32pp. The cheapest places I looked at for a sit down were $28pp. FM if you want the specifics (Nassau County).

Do it out if you can, I did it at home and it was so crazy, I did my DD at a hall still a lot of work but at least your mom isn't a crazy mess afterwards...
Lol ETS: your home a crazy mess LOL not your mom!!

Re: At home christening party or in a restaurant/catering hall?
We did DDs Baptism at a restaurant & her 1st bday at the house because I wanted it to be more laid back. I liked the comfort of being home but between the chairs, tables, tent, food & all that it was about $2,000 for 50 people so it wasn't any less then a restaurant. I did hire 2 girls to help serve & clean up so I was able to enjoy it a little more.
I guess either way, it's big but it's nice to have everyone together.
