anything is possible, but it's highly unlikely. You typically ovulate about 14 days prior to your period. The egg only lives a short time after it's been released from the follicle in your ovary.

Re: conceiving a week before your period?
I don't think this is possible, I read somewhere that the luteal phase should be between 10 and 18 days long.
So given a 28 day cycle, in order to conceive a week before your period wouldn't that mean that your lureal phase was 21 days?

It would mean your LP is 7 days in that case.

Re: conceiving a week before your period?
Unless you O (ovulate) later than usual, it could be possible to become PG... However, the later you "O" the more likely AF will come later as well...
For example if you O on day 14 of your cycle, ideally AF will show on day 28... giving you a 14 day luteal phase (LP) which starts from the day after you O to the day you get your period. This period gives the sperm and egg enough time to fertilize, multiply and implant.
A 14 day LP is ideal for a pregnancy to "stick"... if it is shorter than 10 days than there are some issues that could be impeding the possibility of conceiving. So, if one Os on day 14 and then AF shows on day 21... then it's important to inform one's Dr. about that.
