Confused about couple of things
So had an appt this morning, almost 28 w. my OB checked me , he said everything looks fine "nothing happening yet" but he asked me to go to his office and the he told me he wants me to go to the hospital and get a sonogram so they can check my cervix, he said he isn't worried about anything and everything is fine but wants to be safe . I'm just a bit confused as to why can't he do this in the office? This is a high risk OB Another thing I am a bit confused and honestly little unhappy about is this: I am a high risk patient bc of all the complications I had w DD, the MC and bc of my cardiac issues. I didn't stay with my regular OB (she is great BTW and is located very close to me) throughout this pregnancy bc she thought I should be with a high risk dr and I agreed, I looked and looked and finally found this OB . He is "one of the best" . When I first went to him and he looked at my records he said don't worry, I'll take care of you and *I* will do a C/S "not letting anyone else touch you" ( I remember being very happy when he said it, DH was there too) now he tells me he will "try" and do a CS but "there will be other drs there who can do it" that it may be another dr in the office or a dr who is on call. I understand often times this IS the case, but I thought the whole idea of seeing a high risk dr AND having a scheduled CS is so that the primary OB will the surgery , no? The way he said it I almost felt like he issure he is NOT going to be there. I mean why am I driving out to LI every week to see this guy if he isn't the one who does the CS? Yes if I go in early labor and he can't be the for whatever reason is one thing, but for him to imply that most likely he won't be there with a scheduled CS really annoys me

Confused about couple of things
have you met with any of the other doctor's in his office? if you haven't, i probably would make an effort to do so, in case they wind up doing your CS

Now they have a new dr in the group, she is new, new, as in just finished residency , seeing her in a couple of weeks bc they want me to "meet her" and now of course I am nervous that this dr will be the one doing a CS , I know everyone has to start somewhere but after what I went through with my previous pregnancy and all the stuff that happened I get nervous

Re: Confused about couple of things
wow sorry to hear you were not happy with your appt today and feel uneasy as to your dr doing your c-section.
Not sure why he would send you to the hospital for a cervix check since he is HR and I know I go to a HR dr and I have been going weekly and they have been checking my cervix to make sure it is closed. Maybe call back the office and ask why they couldn't do it in the office and that you are confused why they are sending you to hospital and didn't think to ask at the dr's at that moment.
As far as your c-section date ~ I know my dr is HR and awesome and he goes to a lot of conferences to speak in his field maybe something like that came up and he is unsure that he will be in town when you are scheduled. Do you have your date scheduled yet?
I was very clear with my Dr I want him to do my section with his NP and she scheduled me with him ~ although if I go into labor of course I know I will get the dr on call but I know all the HR dr's in my office are awesome and I feel I will be well taken care of. Although I hope I don't go into labor because I really want my Dr to do the c-section.
If I were you I would write down all your Q's you are concerned with and call your Dr and ask them ~ even if you have a great relationship with your old OB maybe give her a call as well. I did that with my regular primary care Dr (who I have a great repor with and we discussed me going to a regular OB/HR OB I knew it was not her field but I was comfortable and respect her opinion ~ I had to go to her weekly for 2 yrs for my blood clot so we had a great dr/patient relationship) It was a big help and a big relief.
Good Luck!

Good Luck! Thank you, I am going to talk to my OB next week ,but made an appt at the hospital this week. I had DD with me today so between waiting and her getting all difficult I didn't ask the questiones I wanted to ask him.
