congestion?? possible allergy?? (16 day old baby)
DS is 16 days old.
He has been pretty clear congestion wise since after birth, but he would do some grunty sounds here and there. The other day DS vomited up his formula and it seemed like some came out his nose and mouth. Since then DH and I have noticed he sounds much more congested. I notice more when Im feeding him a bottle. My mom says he sounded congested before this vomiting incident. But again we noticed it much more after this. Also, he had some crustiness on one eye (i cleaned it and it didnt come back) and they possibly look a little glassy - but not sure if this is just his tears coming in because I have noticed wetness in the corners of his eyes. My mom seems to think DS may be allergic to the cat. We are really hoping he is not.
Anyone have an experience with congestion like this or possible DC allergic to pet?

a lot of newborns are always congested. I know my DD is still congested at 11 weeks old.
If it concerns you, call the ped.

I had the same issue with DD. My ped said that a big cause is spit up. They aren't able to clear their passages out the way adults can so they sound crackly and congested. It was probably made worse by the spit up incident. If it persists after a few days and still worries you- call the ped for peace of mind  GL!

congestion is very common in newborns. I wouldn't worry about it, but call your ped if you are concerned.

My son had all those things and ended upo being diagnosed with a milk allergy and because of that, reflux.

My son also sounded congested when he was a newborn. I remember him in the hospital sounding like that. He was diagnosed with a milk protein/soy allergy and reflux....

DS had the same symptoms (and we also have cats), my pediatrician said it was reflux. I keep a cool mist humidifier on in his room at night, keep him upright for about 10 minutes after feedings, and use Simply Saline for the times he sounds really congested and that has been helping a lot.

we had that and eventually we found out the the congestion was due to reflux...i would ask the ped.
