Constantly cleaning dog's ears!
Does anyone else feel like they are constantly cleaning out their dog's ears?
I have a 1.5 year old puggle and his ears are always gross. Thankfully, he lets me clean them out but I think he knows that it makes him feel better.

Re: Constantly cleaning dog's ears!
We were cleaning a lot too because Brinkley had ear mites. Once they were gone, we were still cleaning once a week but finding less to clean in the ears.
Is it possible your dog has a yeast infection? My vet told me to stop cleaning his ears so much because we could be cleaning the beneficial stuff right out of them. She said if there isn't much coming out on the cotton swaps, to back it up to every 2 to 3 weeks.
Here's a good site on yeast infections: http://www.dog-health-guide.org/yeastinfectionindogear.html. I'd probably get it checked out just to be sure, if you're doing it every week or more and coming out with a lot of goop.

We have to. Cooper gets ear infections so easily (he's actually just finishing up an antibiotice for his last ear infection). It's not so bad, but I can never get in there as well as the Dr. does.

Re: Constantly cleaning dog's ears!
Charlie had chronic ear infections for a long time. They were yeast infections and it felt like no matter how much we cleaned them there was always more gunk in there the next day.
We took him to a new vet and discovered he had cancer and he had to have a surgery to remove it.
When he was under the doctor did a really deep cleaning of his ears, all the way down to the bottom and gave us these drops to take home and now he is all better.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow and see what they say.

We bought a solution from our vet for our dog to clean her ears with. You squirt it in, mush it around and then swab out the outer ear. It's a soothing formula and seems to work well. After we do her ears, she's like a different dog.

Mia's ear were terrible. We took her to a new vet who started her on chinese herbs, changed her diet and she is doing awesome.
Could be allergies
