contractors/ workers in your home

If you hire someone to fix up your home, do you ever leave them alone for a little while or are you always there to supervise?

We don't live there yet but we do have some of my DH's tools & we have our dining room table & chairs there & have a quick earrand to run on their first day (the workers will be alone max 45min)
opinions?

After purchasing our home we hired someone to paint for us... I really didn't want to stay in the house while he was painting so we left him for a few hours while we shop at home depot... I guess it all depends on you...

We've had our bath and kitchen/DR done in the last couple of years (and our hardwood floors redone). I never left the bathroom or hardwood floor guys alone in the house b/c I wasn't comfortable doing so. The contractor taht did our kitchen I absolutely adored and was very comfortable leaving him alone.

Go with what your comfortable with. If you think the painter will be fine/trustworthy alone then leave him.

The last time I left a worker in my home , I came home to the stereo blasting........the nerve...... I guess he thought I would be out longer....
