Converting the garage to a room....

Did anyone ever do this? What did you do first? How did it come out? Pictures?

I would first get a quote from a contractor.

Then go to you township/town to check for permits.

You have the choice to leave the garage door and put a wall behind it or remove it totally.

I know some people in my area leave the door because they did not change the CO (they don't get taxed!!)

We just bought a house that had this done. Would check with a contractor and the town first. We had to wait for them to get the CO's for the conversion before we bought the house from them. This is what is looks like right now. They had converted it to two rooms. The garage is the furthest part of the room and then they had made another room that I guess was a small utility room at one point. So we took all the walls down and now we have our future den. It does have a step in it, because the garage is always lower then the rest of the house.

We are currently having this done. FM me if you want the number of my contractor-- he is great (good work, highly reliable...). I highly recommend him.
