I have a vaporizer in her room, a cool mist in the living room and a warm mist in ours!! Chat Icon

ETA: I don't find that any actually do anything except mess up my hair! Chat Icon

Okay, not true - when I have the vaporizer in her room, instead of waking up with boogers crusted to her nose, she's in a puddle of snot. Chat Icon

My Ped said the cool mist. We got the warm at first. We switched. It's a lot more to clean too with the warm.

Elevate his head
use the Vicks plug-ins (works great. i put it in the outlet closest to his crib)
Aspirator
take warm baths (use the Vicks bubble bath)
stand in the bathroom and let the shower run for steam (although DH gets annoyed b/c it's bad for the paint Chat Icon Chat Icon )

Travis was sick a few weeks ago. Our Ped told us to use a coll mist humidifer.

Also what we did which helped alot was, I turned the shower on hot and let it run. the bathroom got all steamy and we sat in there for a few minutes everynight. Afterwards i would suction him nose out.

Hope John is feeling better soon!!!

Re: cool mist humidifier or warm for a cold???

I went through this with my twins a couple of weeks ago and here is what I found out -

Old school thinking -warm mist

New school thinking - cool mist

That's really the only difference. Also, some of the warm mist ones let you put medicine or the vicks right in the machine. A lot of people try to stay away from the warm mist because of the cleaning.

If you think about it, running the shower is the same thing as a warm mist. That's what I went with because that's what i had.
