cool or warm mist humidifier?
the vicks cool mist baby humidifier just isn't cutting it in our warm, dry bedroom. Poor DS (he's 10 weeks) wakes up with congestion and a dry cough. The little noses saline drops are great and he usually is able to sneeze up the boogers or I can suction them but today I have to buy a good, larger humidifier. Any recommendations? and what's the difference between the cool and warm? kenmore seems to get good reviews.

Re: cool or warm mist humidifier?
ds is congested and our ped recommended the warm mist to soften the mucus. i add a couple of drops of the vicks vapor to the little container of the humidifier and i have the vicks plug in. i also use the baby vicks on his chest and back of neck. he seems to sleep pretty good like that, hope ur little one feels bettr soon!!!

Re: cool or warm mist humidifier?
we use warm. the cool did NOTHING.
the air gets hot though where it comes out so if your DS can move, put it up high or somewhere he can't possibly get to it or the cord.

Re: cool or warm mist humidifier?
We will continue to use a warm mist humidifier until/if we feel that he should no longer have one in his room for safety reasons. If that happens we will replace it with a cool mist. However, we used a cool mist in our room before and all it did was make the carpet wet and moldy. Warm mist evaporates and is more effective. However, we only put the humidifier on when he is sleeping, so I am hoping that it wont be a problem to keep the warm mist in there.
