We did cord and tissue through CBR. With cancer in my family I wanted a safety net for dd gd forbid she needed it. To me, if you can afford it, it's worth it. Years from now there will be even more research established on the benefits. It's a personal decision though.
Fm me if you want the contact info.

I donated my DD cord blood to the public cord blood bank. After a lot if research I felt this was the best choice for me. It is free to donate. The catch is the hospital where you deliver must participate in the program.

I did it for DD1 and plan to for DD2. Hope we never need it, but I'm happy we have it.

Re: Cord Bank
Viacord has a free dinner you can attend to learn more information about it- there is no obligation to use them. We ended up doing the cord blood for both twins and the tissue for one (since it is more compatible for the parents rather than the donor) through CBR.

Re: Cord Bank
It's a matter of choice. We chose to bank. It's expensive and I hope we never need to use it, but if my DD gets sick and could benefit from it I wanted to know it was there for her.

We banked tissue and blood for both kids. I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and wish we had it.
