Corian vs Granite countertops
We are going to be building a home soon and the house comes standard with Corian coutertops with the option (for a price of course) to upgrade to granite. This would be for the kitchen and bathroom countertops.
I've always heard that granite is desirable but as I don't have it in my current home, don't really know.
If you could choose either Corian or granite, which would you choose and why?
Thanks.

We moved into a house that has black corian......and HATE it. It may just be the color, but it scratches very easy. If you we're to get coriander....choose a lighter color.

Re: Corian vs Granite countertops
I'd go with granite...or actually quartz if it's available. I researched counters and Corian is known for scratching. Yes, a lot of times the scratches could be sanded or buffed out but I'd rather not deal with that. I'd go for the upgrade if possible.

Corian can cost just as much if not more than granite. Why are you paying for an upgrade on this? Ask the builder this question.

I have white corian and hate it! It scratches and stains so easily! It does look nice after buffing or using soft scrub to get everything out but who wants to have to do that!! The previous owners picked it
