Cost of putting in a house alarm
Anyone know the general cost of putting in a house alarm and also the monthly fees? Thanks.

Re: Cost of putting in a house alarm
WE have Slomin's. I believe that most big companies will not charge you to install a certain number of "points." Each sensor, motion detector or keypad is worth a certain number of points and they give you, say 10 for free. If you want additional, then you have to pay for them. I know this is the way it worked for us. We pay $30 a month or so, but we also use them for oil.

Re: Cost of putting in a house alarm
We just signed with slomins. It's free installation but the catch is you have to sign a 5 year contract. But at the end of the 5 year, you get to keep the system and use what ever company you like. We added a few items to the free install so it came $300 for us. The montly monitoring fee is $29. We are scheduled for the install in 3 weeks. I'll let you know how it goes if you remind me.

Re: Cost of putting in a house alarm
we just had an alarm put in from slomin's too a few months ago. They were willing to put in motion sensors in the basement and first floor and alarms on the front and back doors for free. We paid extra to get a smoke alarm/carbon monoxide alarm that goes straigh to the fire department. But you don't need that. Then I pay the bill quarterly and it works out to $29/month.
Definately worth it for peace of mind.
Originally I wanted the windows too but then realized that with the motion sensors it was the same thing. And they set the sensors so your pets can't set it off (we had a few issues in the first few weeks where they had to come back to recalibrate because the cats would set it off in the middle of the night and give us a heart attack).

Re: Cost of putting in a house alarm
We installed an alarm with ADT. We made this house like Fort Knox and it was about 1000 for us after we added on all the free things.

We pay $30 as well and dont use them for oil. We just had ours installed 2 weeks ago and we added on extras (including a second keypad upstairs) install came to $175.
