Cost of redoing a bathroom?
I know prices vary greatly, but we're looking to completely redo a VERY outdated bathroom...
Anyone have any experience/ideas of cost? Nothing fancy.

in my experience 18-20K depending on what you want done and if you're having a contractor doing it.

Re: Cost of redoing a bathroom?
I would also say 10k - 15k with a contractor doing all the work and a full gut.
Figure on about $1000 - $2000 for all your plumbing fixtures if you're going with good quality like Kohler and Delta - faucets, sink, toilet, tub and or shower, including massage shower, diverter, handheld - if you go all the way here count on the higher end. More if you want a whirlpool bath - they can run a few thou on their own.
Then you have to figure what you want/need in tiles, vanity, etc. If you're getting a custom vanity (ie: kitchenmaid type cabinetry) with granite countertop figure another $1500 to $2500 depending on the size. That would give you a good 48" vanity give or take a bit.
Don't forget light fixtures, towel bars, etc.
So you could be up around $6000 or so for materials and then you have the labor.
It can be done for a lot less if you go with lower end fixtures, basic flooring, do a lot of the work yourself. It just depends on what you're looking for.

Re: Cost of redoing a bathroom?
I'd suggest going to Home Depot, Loews, Consumers, and price out some of the fixtures you might want to use to get an idea what that would cost because that will give you a good idea on that portion of the expense. Beyond that it's hard to guess. It's dependant on the amount of work (ie: rip and replace sheet rock, replacing the tub or using what's there, etc) and also the size of the room.

Re: Cost of redoing a bathroom?
I think it can be done for $5K on the low end. we'll be redoing ours on the 2nd floor hopefully in the next year, so I'll be finding out firsthand very soon!
