Cost of renting a dumpster?
Anyone know the cost to rent a dumpster? I need to throw out some junk that has been sitting around for a while...more than the normal garbage pickup type stuff and I was thinking I could do a good cleaning if I had a dumpster. Anyone know how much and for how long the rental is (a day, a week, whatever?). Thanks.

Re: Cost of renting a dumpster?
We rented a 30 yard dumpster when we first moved into our home 2 years ago. The price difference based on a 10 yard vs a 30 yard isn't that big since they still need to drive a truck out to leave it and pick it up. We had it for a few months. We were not given a time limit we had to call them when we were done.
Pricing is based on the weight of the dumpster. So it depends on what you are throwing out. To give you an idea we gutted a kitchen, bathroom and ripped up all the carpet on our first floor. The total cost was around $900 for the dumpster.
We used this company. Name: Aca Waste Services Inc Street: 40 Eads Street West Babylon, ny 11704-1106 Phone: (631) 391-9300

Re: Cost of renting a dumpster?
You can't compare the cost from NY to NJ...NJ is sooo expensive.
I would call around by you but I have gotten quotes for different sizes:
10 yds: about $350-400 20 yds: about $450-500 30 yds: $750 +
some places charge pick up and delivery and some include it in the price so you need to ask that. Their is also a $90 per ton overage that is universal ($90 is what the dumping site charges).
I couldn't believe how expensive it was here.
If you are looking to get rid of junk. I would call 1-800-got-junk. We used them and they come and assess how much you have and how much room your stuff will take up in the container (they neatly stack everything) and then give you a quote. You don't have to move anything just direct. I received a quote and thought it was a little high because for another $50 I could have gotten a dumpster, had it for a week and not rush. Well the manager called me back after speak to the boss and charge me under $200!!! The guys were really nice and were fast.

Re: Cost of renting a dumpster?
We had a 10yard dumpster a few years ago and it was around $300. They told me there is a difference in price for ie. construction debris vs. yard waste. It is also the smallest dumpster allowed in my town. I would call up a few places to ask.

Re: Cost of renting a dumpster?
You can usually keep it for as long as you want. The price will depend on what you throw in there. If you want to throw any and everything it is usually more. You can get small one for under $500.
Try Winter Brothers, I have gotten a few from them and they werent too bad.

Re: Cost of renting a dumpster?
Looking into hiring a company to do it.
It was going to be $300 for a small dumpster for a rental dumpster. We had some old concrete/rocks in the yard. 30ft long antenna. Lots of little stuff but PLENTY of trip to the curb. Wheelbarrow, etc...
We called aroud and a company (can't remember the name right now) came and quoted us $325 to do it all.
It was only $25 more to have someone do the work. Not worth a backache.
