Costco question
My DH has a Costco card. It has his name and picture on it. Can I use it without him being with me?

Re: Costco question
You can try but I use to do that and then one day they yelled at me and said it was like using my DH's license . Didn't see the correlation but you might get away with it. I just wouldn't want to go and do all the shopping and then be told they wouldn't allow it.

Re: Costco question
Technically no. I tried that once. DH gave me his card (it's his picture and name and a Business card too) and when they dude went to ring me up, he told me I couldn't use the card without DH (I was trying to show him ID that I was his wife). I lied and said he was in the car with the baby and he let me slide, telling me once again I couldn't do that again.
You can certainly try

Re: Costco question
My sister's husband has a membership at BJs and when she goes there without him she uses the self checkout line. (not sure if Costco has a self checkout) hope that helps

Re: Costco question
NO. The owner of th e card is supposed to be there. You may get away with it once but you are not supposed to, so you may not be allowed. This happened to me once and it was actually a funny story. When DH took the pic, he had a full beard (not something he does often at all, it was just a phase). The pics are terrible, black and white weird looking pics.
So when I went to the register to pay, the cashier called over the manager. He looked at the ID and said to me "Is your father here with you?" I laughed my *** off and was like, "That's my DH!"
It was so funny, they did let me pay but I was told don't do it again. We laugh whenever we look at the card, seeing his full bearded pic that apparently makes him look old enough to be my dad (I do look young but in the pic he does look really old). LOL

I don't think Costco has a self checkout but this would work if they did.

Re: Costco question
I have done it - but only because I am on the membership with him and I never bothered to get a card. The first few times nobody said anything. The last time they gave me a big to-do and had to verify that I was on his account by looking in the computer.
Both of our current cards are picture free now. So I use his at will!

Costco doesn't take credit cards (other than Amex) anyway... DH and I both have cards and we have to pay with cash or debit.

Ours does, on the back. It's the red and white card, and yes, it has black and white pics of us that they took when we signed up, this was years ago. The pictures are awful.

Re: Costco question
I use my mom's card once in a while. Sometimes they don't say anything, other times they tell me that they will do it "just this once"
They have never refused me though.

Re: Costco question
What are they? The Gestapo? They need to get over it... especially if you have ID that shows you are his wife and not just some random using the card.
This is one of the many reasons why I like BJ's better. They don't even look at the card...

I've been refused. Totally not worth picking out everything, only to be refused! They are total sticklers.

Well, the paid memberships is what helps keep the prices lower. If everyone was allowed to shop there without paying dues the prices would increase for everyone.
Each paid membership comes with 2 cards for people living in the same house. I would just get that and not have to sweat it out at the register or waste time shopping twice.

Re: Costco question
I use my mom's card a few times a year and they have never said anything to me - while I look like my mom's daughter, she is 64 - thank goodness for the grainy picture!
What my mom has done for me, in case I can't get to her with the card or if I am refused, she buys me a few $25 gift cards. Anyone can use a GC without a membership (I guess it's like a free day pass?) so I always have it in my wallet, just in case.

i was going to post the same thing. you can have a "household member" on each account. so dh and i each have our own card.

It's a paid membership. It would be pretty bad for business if they just let anyone walk in using someone else's card whenever they wanted to.
As others have pointed out, you can have 2 cards on each account for no more money. One might as well just get another card...

Re: Costco question
I went with my MIL this week & bought stuff for DD's party...it's her card. When I went to pay w/ my cc they gave me a hard time. I said she's my mom & they said it doesn't matter...but again they said, "just this once."

Ditto. My mom doesn't use her card. My dad does all the BJs shopping, so I have my mom's card permanently and use it in the self-checkout lane at BJs.
