Could this be true? Camera/shopping related
My stepdaughter wanted a "real" camera for Xmas - not just a point and shoot. We don't have 100's or 1000's to spend, and she is going to be 12.
DH found the body of a Canon Rebel Xs (I think that's the name) for 204.00 online (photodynasty.com) . Since he has lenses, he figured he would buy the body, and work with her with the lenses he has.
So, we placed the order 2 weeks ago. I used my hotmail acct, which I use for orders.
well, time goes by, and we realize the camera still has not arrived. I pour through my hotmail, and find an email in my junk folder that they miscalculated how many they had, so my order is delayed.
I called yesterday, and sat on hold forever waiting for customer service. They finally go through my order and said it's on back order (it said delayed, not back order on the email)
I was livid they didn't try and contact me with all the info I had to fill out, and cancelled the order.
DH told me to cal Berger in Syosset to find the camera.
When I told them what I tried to order, what happened, and the price, the guy started saying it was a scam. It was never available for that price, and make sure they don't have my CC information!!!!
Could this be true? It looks like a legitimate site, and they have customer service.
The guy insisted it could never have been available for that price, and that is why it is not available.
Anyone with experience with these things know if this is true or not?

Do a google search on photodynasty.com
They are notorious for pulling scams. They will sell you your camera for X but only after you pay for all the extras that are over priced.....
Do NOT do business with them and make sure that you call the CC company.

there is a reason why prices are so cheap...only visit reputable sites and do your homework espcially for something that should be a large purchase.
to answer your questions, this is how these small companies make money by scamming people with swapping parts, forgetting something was ordered, etc..

Yup, hubby tried to do the same thing through the same site - unless you buy the overpriced lens that goes with it, they will cancel your order or give you the runaround. As soon as he realized it was a scam, he canceled the purchase through the credit card
