could use some help planning 1st bday party menu!
So the time has come for me to get my tush in gear! Were having abbys 1st bday at our house July 3rd for about 120 people. So were doing a 4th of july BBQ
We have a caterer coming in to do the following... Hot dogs, hamburgers, bbq chicken and corn on the cob. They also supply mac salad, potato salad, cole slaw, watermelon
So here's where it gets shaky I've never had my 'own' party before. Do I put out snacks on the tables for before the bbqing starts? Do I need appitizers?
I also want to make baked beans, ceaser salad and my mil makes a great pasta and broccoli salad with no mayo.
Is this enough? Do I need to have more for those that don't eat meat?
Dessert: A cake Possibly snow cones provided by caterer
Please help this clueless 1st timer!!!

I would put out stuff on the tables like chips and dips, pretzels, maybe goldfish crackers if you're having a lot of kids. No appetizers necessary. I think you have enough food but need more desserts. Add a cookie platter or make cookies. For Landon's party we bought big case of ice cream cones, fudge bars, ice cream sandwhiches from BJs. It was $10 for 30-something of them. We also usually buy cream puffs from BJs.

I agree about chips/dips on tables, maybe a veggie crudite. Food sounds sufficient. Also agree about adding more dessert. Cookies, fruit, etc. I LOVE those Costco cream puffs. We always buy them and people love them. Just thaw & add powdered sugar. YUM!
