My point is that with his party not lining up behind him people have a reason to wait and see before taking to the streets. 3b. Look at the people on this and other Cuomo threads. Many people who support Dems and progressives are calling for him to be held accountable. (I am pretty sure I said it myself on an older thread but if not I'll say it here - he has to go.) I haven't read every post but we're managing to agree on that, for the most part. There was radio silence from the same people when we discussed the allegations against Trump and the like. So perhaps you want to know why people aren't in the streets, and now you do. But what I would like to know is why were there crickets then but now all the Trump supporters are jumping in. The Republican party and those who caucus/agree with it have proven to be so boundlessly hypocritical that there is no reason to expect any other response. This is their playbook now. And Republicans for the most part don't. I deleted the other portion of your quote because I wasn't going to address it but the allegations against Trump along with his many other illegal and immoral activities were very well known. People made excuses or didn't care. So I am going to call out Cuomo like everyone should but I am also going to call out the hypocrites.

They need an independent in office to be able to compromise and make this country a place every citizen is proud to live in.

The people didn't elect him...he played the electoral college and won. I also believe that Russia/Putin had a lot to do with manipulating information out there during the election. Add to that the extreme hate there is for Hillary and bam...you get an idiot in office called Trump. ETA: What I have seen come from the right in regards to Jan 6th is disgusting. They are vile representative and should not be allowed to speak to people least hold office. McCarthy jokes about how it would be hard not to hit her in regards to Pelosi. Just because I am a republican, does not mean I voted for Trump. There has not been a viable candidate for President in years.

It didn't happen with Trump - because no prominent Republican ever pushed to hold him accountable for his sexual assault cases at ANY point. Even more reason the comparison is accurate. Sorry, not sorry. Take a look at your party with clear eyes and see what it has become. There is a reason why only 26% of Americans identify as Republican. Decent people who might lean more conservative are identifying as Independent. If you (general you) really want to revamp the system, leave the party and start a new one with actual plans to make the country better. Repubs had the Presidency, House, and Senate for two years and couldn't pass a health care bill or infrastructure - two major items Trump promised. They didn't even technically have a 2020 platform. They have literally abandoned the idea of governing and just want to retain power and fight the culture wars. I'm really not being facetious when I say start a new party. I would love an opposing side with actual ideas about how to make the country better. But they don't have any, and they are no longer pretending they even do.

The Republican party and those who caucus/agree with it have proven to be so boundlessly hypocritical that there is no reason to expect any other response. This is their playbook now. They have no soul. Perfectly stated. This is exactly why the country will never be unified again. The blame and nastiness from the left and consistently degrading and name calling to those on the right is disgusting and needs to stop. It is very evident on these boards. People hate Cuomo, plain and simple. He has been hated for years from both sides of the fence. The progressives and other democrats did not come out and tell him to step down UNTIL the report came out that they find all the accusations creditable. That did not happen with Trump so stop using him as a comparison. Trump is disgusting yes and should he be found guilty of assault or sexual misconduct then he should be in jail. Just like any man or woman should be. I really wish everyone understood why Trump got elected to begin with. It wasn't because he was the best for the job, it was because the country is going to hell and all politicians are corrupt and he was the farthest thing from that world. His being electing was just a big F U to the system as a whole. Did it bring out some extremists on the right, yes but it also shown light to extremists on the left. This country is a shit show and the whole political system needs to be revamped. They need an independent in office to be able to compromise and make this country a place every citizen is proud to live in. You're right. It didn't happen with Trump - because no prominent Republican ever pushed to hold him accountable for his sexual assault cases at ANY point. Even more reason the comparison is accurate. Sorry, not sorry. Take a look at your party with clear eyes and see what it has become. There is a reason why only 26% of Americans identify as Republican. Decent people who might lean more conservative are identifying as Independent. If you (general you) really want to revamp the system, leave the party and start a new one with actual plans to make the country better. Repubs had the Presidency, House, and Senate for two years and couldn't pass a health care bill or infrastructure - two major items Trump promised. They didn't even technically have a 2020 platform. They have literally abandoned the idea of governing and just want to retain power and fight the culture wars. I'm really not being facetious when I say start a new party. I would love an opposing side with actual ideas about how to make the country better. But they don't have any, and they are no longer pretending they even do. People who whine on this website about WHY Trump was elected only want to play victim instead of doing anything. They don't really care to do anything - they just want to complain and point fingers.
