Coxsackie exposure
Hi ladies, I posted on pg board but I thought someone over here might be more knowledgeable. I just learned I was exposed to Coxsackie (from a 3-yr old). I called my MD's office to ask if this is OK, and if not, what can I do, but no one is there to give me an immediate answer. I'm 19wks pg. Have any of you been exposed during pg? Any input? Thank you!

Re: Coxsackie exposure
Coxsackie in an adult is like general malaise. I would mention it to my ob/gyn but wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Coxsackie exposure
Thank you for responding Barb. I spoke to the nurse practicioner who said if the baby had sores already then she probably wasn't contagious anymore (we didn't see the sores but she did say that a bug stung her in her mouth so we now assume that was the problem - I thought she bit her tongue but she wouldn't let us look in). Hopefully, I wasn't exposed - otherwise it doesn't sound like there's much I can do about it.

Re: Coxsackie exposure
Yuck. I hope you didn't get it. DS got it over the summer and I ended-up with it, too. I got a sore throat and ran a high fever. But I think it's fairly unusual for an adult to have such a strong reaction. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Hope you stay well!
