Coxsackie hit daycare, but DS was out, so ?...

My DS was not in daycare today b/c I was off from work and he had a dr. appointment. I get a phone call from his daycare (he is in family daycare) that all the kids have coxsackie. This morning she said in a matter of 2 hours all the kids had fevers and had coxsackie. She was checking to see if my DS was ok. He seems ok. I just checked his temp and it was 98.8. Is he at risk even though he wasn't there today? What do I look for? I am stressed b/c he has his baptism on sunday - 100 people are coming.Chat Icon

the incubation period for coxsackie is 3-6 days. so even if your son wasn't there today, he has still likely been exposed in the past few days.

but i wouldn't worry just yet. ds just had coxsackie and it really wasn't all that bad. i will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

just called my ped. She said he was probably exposed and just check if he has any symptoms - fever or blisters. I hope we were lucky and he missed out on getting it. THe only thing i am worried about is what to do on monday...are all of the kids going to be back in daycare?

That was what I figured Chat Icon I am hoping that he is ok - The 9 kids in daycare all showed symptoms today...maybe, just maybe we are ok?!?!? This is the worst weekend too! My DH and I are finally going out on Saturday to this great party in the city and then on Sunday is his baptism with a huge party. Why couldn't this happen last weekend when i was sitting on my azz.

depends. My DS had it from monday thru today. He probably could have gone in today but i kept him back for one more day of rest. So some could be back on monday depending on the severity of their symptoms.

My DS was exposed on a friday but did not show symptoms until monday afternoon

If you DS is getting it you will know! He will become miserable and it will be apparent.

ETA ... 3 other kids got it in my DS class. ALL of which started showing symptoms on a different day
