Coxsackie: if your kid has it, how do you avoid getting it?
Or how do you avoid your other kids getting it? I don't even know if ds has it, but I am pretty sure. Freaking out that the whole family is gonna get it. How bad is it in adults? I have heard horror stories

My son had it last year and no one else got it...Lots of hand washing and disinfecting toys!
Adults can get it in the form of strep throat..

This!
Washed and changed blankets, sheets, etc. Wiped down toys and Lysol frequently. Keep washing your hands along with the other family members. Remember to wash hands after every diaper change too and your child as well. Good luck!

It spreads through saliva. Just keep washing your hands and wipe everything down. My brother caught it from my son last year and had to go to the hospital. I showed elevated signs of it but had no symptoms. While pregnant with #2!!! It's very uncommon for adults to get it. My DS got it twice :( ugghhh daycare. Wash your hands after each diaperchange and beware of pools.

My son had it last year and no one else got it, not even our newborn. Wash your hands often, don't share food. I wiped down handles, door knobs and the entire bathroom.

Coxsackie: if your kid has it, how do you avoid getting it?
My son had it a couple years back and nobody else got it. I do know adults who have caught it from their kids and it's miserable.
Defintely wash your hands often, especially after diaper changes.

My dd had it. I never got it, despite being exposed to it all constantly. My DH wound up getting it and he had an atrocious fever and chills for a few days, then his fingertips peeled. Wash your hands alot, esp after potty and tushie wiping.

My son got it a few years ago. I was told too that its super uncommon for adults to get it but five days later I got it and three days after me my dh got it. Wash your hands, especially after diaper changes. It spreads via stool as well.

This exactly. I got it as did my father and we were both miserable. It manifested very differently than in kids.

Re: Coxsackie: if your kid has it, how do you avoid getting it?
I'm recovering from coxsackie right now and getting it as an adult is miserable. I had a fever of 103 for 5 days, swollen lymph nodes, and blisters. The blisters on my feet were painful as were the ones in my throat. I don't wish this on anyone. Total recovery time is about 7-10 days, and I missed a full week of work. I'm pretty sure I caught it from one of my kids because I was taking care of an ill child, but she didn't exhibit the full symptoms the way I did.
All I can say is make sure you wash your hands and keep everything as clean as possible!

Re: Coxsackie: if your kid has it, how do you avoid getting it?
I got it from my DD last summer.
I was told that it spreads through saliva and poop. Before I knew she was sick, I'm sure I must have fed her with a spoon (she was 11m old), got some of the mess on my hand, and licked it off. Ugh. So don't do that! Sterilize everything your DC touches with their mouth and wash your hands like crazy after every diaper change.
