Crashing with some questions
Hi everyone. I have been TTC just shy of a year. my doctor has begun running some tests on me and DH, but I'm just curious, if anyone else has the same situation as me. I'm nervous they aren't going to find anything wrong but we still cant get pregnant.
I have been temping and charting and my cycles are text book. Everything seems so perfect and happens right when it should.
Anyone else have the same thing, yet they were diagnosed with something wrong? If you don't mind sharing I would appreciate it. Just trying to get an idea for what I might be in for. I'm really scared we won't ever be able to have kids

Re: Crashing with some questions
everything seemed fine with us at first. blood work was great, DH semen analysis came back normal, my cycles were regular and i ovulate on my own. then i went for the HSG and we discovered that i had a blocked tube.
i know it's scary. i remember in the beginning, with every test that came back normal, my DH was upset because he wanted them to find the answer and for it to be fixed. unfortunately, they don't always find the reason and it's really hard to say what you might be in for. everyone's journey is different. hopefully you will start getting some answers soon.

Re: Crashing with some questions
sounds like our story!
i have lots more details on my LIF blog, but we had a similar experience.
we have "unexplained IF" but as you know, we have a healthy, happy one year old - so just because they can't figure out "why" doesn't mean they can't help you get pregnant (if you need help)
feel free to FM me with any questions

Re: Crashing with some questions
Exactly the same situation as you, except we've been ttc'ing for 2 years
we went to see an RE after about 9 months (mainly due to my age, i was 36 at the time) for some advanced testing and monitoring. After a slew of tests for both DH and I, there is absolutely nothing wrong with us. I agree.. it is the most frustrating thing in the world to be diagnosed with unexplained infertility - because there's nothing you can do to correct it. I've gone through a year and a half of various types of protocols which theoretically should have worked. I produce multiple eggs on all the meds we've tried, my follies mature, i ovulate on my own, DH has good SA, we did IUI's at the right time, etc.. Yet nothing was happening.
Then randomly, this month i got a bfp when we weren't even taking meds or being monitored!
I hate to say it, but i think for women like me who have nothing wrong with them.. i think its just a matter of time and luck. We can try to do all the right things, have the timing and circumstances just right.. but it all comes down to random luck.
So, hang in there and if you feel like you're ready to move on and see an RE, then there are plenty of good ones out there (see many of the posts on this board with ladies recommending their dr's - there's one almost every week ) I know for us, when we took that first step to see the RE, it made me feel like we were taking more control of things and coming up with a plan to try each month. An RE is there to get you pregnant, and will monitor you much more closely than a regular gyno will. If your gyno starts to suggest putting you any meds, i would use that as an opportunity to seek out an RE since no one should be on fertility meds without being properly monitored (with regular bloodwork and sonograms done thruout your cycle).
If they do find something wrong with you, then they'll also come up with a plan to help you overcome it. Remember, all sorts of women, with all sorts of problems still get pregnant. You are most certainly not alone in wondering about the future though!
It can be daunting to think about.. but if you are seeing the right RE, you'll have a plan and know you're in the best hands to help you get that BFP
good luck!

Re: Crashing with some questions
i tried for 8 months but im impatient so i jumped the gun and went to an RE. I didnt spend any time with my ob/gyn....I wanted to play in the big league instead.
Aside from a short LP (10-11 days)everything was fine with me, too.
After seeing the RE all my tests came back good, as well. Tubes open, I ovulate on my own, my bloodwork was perfect. DH was off the charts good.
We proceeded with 2 clomid iuis and both failed.
My final step in the diagnosis process is getting the laporoscopy.
this will determine if i have any endometriosis, and if i do, they will remove it on the spot.
if they find none, ill officially be in the unexplained category.
After the lap im going to go for an injectible iui.
if that doesnt work, ivf. Its good to see an RE if you are covered. They can run all the tests and move you quickly in the right direction.
After a year, it may be worth it to explore.
Its a big step but it will be good for you to get the peace of mind.

thank you for this, I had no idea, I would have stayed with my gyno if I didn't read this. I think my dr's office may have a infertility specialist in the pratice. I see Dr Mann but I think its Dr michael genalesco? or something like that. would I see him or go to an outside Re?

Re: Crashing with some questions
I have a friend who conceived naturally pretty quickly and then had a m/c. She then could not conceive again. They did tons of tests and both her and DH were normal all around. She ended up doing IVF and getting pregnant with twins on first try. She now has a healthy and that are 13 months old!

Re: Crashing with some questions
I was dx "unexplained" almost 3 years ago after every test you can imagine. They tested me for things that i had less than a 2% of having. I have had 4 IUIs, 1 IVF that ended in a chemical and 1 FET that ended in a M/C and still no answers and no baby. It is beyond frustrating.
Weeks can turn into years with IF, so my advice is go directly to a RE.
Good Luck !!

Re: Crashing with some questions
I am going on well over a year with no luck... Dr sent us for tests and everything came back normal for me and dh has super sperm according to his SA. Dr says he think it could just be my age.
We are doing our first IUI in about 10 days. I also had textbook 28 day cycles and O on day 14. Sometimes there is no real reason
