Crazy fear - exercise ball
Is anyone else afraid if they use an exercise ball, that they're going to pop it?
There's one in the gym at work and I'd love to start working it into my routines but I'm afraid it's going to burst.
Anyone know what the weight limit is on those things? It's big, comes up to my knees.

Um, yes. I have this fear everything I use mine....and I used it when I was pg. I'm pretty sure the one I have is burst proof to 250lbs.

I dont worry about this but then again I dont think I actually ever thought about it. If it makes you feel any better, I managed a gym for 2 years and we never had one pop.

Re: Crazy fear - exercise ball
It didn't burst! Thanks ladies. It looks like the limit of these things don't go below 200, regardless of brand. That's right about where I am, so I was concerned, but it was fine.
I'll tell you though, doing the "bicycle" type abdominal exercises gives me a lot more burn than doing the exercise ball. But now that I know it can hold me, I'll look for more stuff to do with it.

I knew you would be fine. Try this one... face the ground with your arms out in a plank position (like you were to do a push up) and then put the ball just under your shins. Bring your knees into your chest while rolling the ball in. This will work your entire core. One tip, I usually kneel on the ball and then move forward onto my hands because it can be hard to get your legs on the ball otherwise. Hard to explain but Im sure you will figure it out. GL

Re: Crazy fear - exercise ball
Holy cow. Yup, that looks really effective! I'm pretty protective of my neck and shoulders because I've hurt my trapezius pretty bad, at least 5 times. Each time it takes a full month to get over it, so I baby those areas.
I have a plan for my next "phase" which is a weight of 190 - 17 pounds away - to work heavier arm/shoulder exercises in and that video is going into the plan. I'm not strong enough to support my current weight for things like push-ups or planks. But I'm stronger than I was, so I know I can get there without injury.
Thanks Lina, I appreciate it.

Re: Crazy fear - exercise ball
My trainer makes me use it allllll the time!!! I hate it! But it certainly works.
He also has me use that stupid stability ball (bubble type thing that's like half of a ball with a flat bottom)....I have to do squats on it usually, but last night he had me kneeling on it to do arm weights....horrible! (but again, I'm sure effective!)

Thanks for posting this! I tried it today at the gym and both exercises are really hard! I was just doing pushups on the ball before, but adding that ab exercise makes it so much more difficult!

Another good variation of that exercise is to keep your legs straight and pull them up into a pike position! SO good and SO hard!
