Re: CRAZY STUFF HAPPENED TO DH & I LAST NIGHT!!!(LONG)
I'm only going to say this because u asked for an honest opinion- I would have just moved if I were you. She could have pulled out a weapon and hurt you and or your baby. It's just not worth a spot. I am the kind of person that always stands up for myself- to a fault even- but now that I am pregnant I bite my tongue. Just because the cops would have known who to blame it on if something horrible happened later that evening the crime would have still occurred and it could have been a lot worse than a keyed car or a flat tire.
Last night my DH and I watched a show on Discovery Health about pregnant women who lived through crazy/ life threatening situations- I forget what it was called, something like "She Survived That Pregnant". One girl survived a bear attack and there were a few others- a lady that fell off her balcony and got impaled, etc. However your story reminded me of one woman in particular- she was living in a project type building and it came to her attention that there was activity going on in the vacant apartment across from her. She actually went 7 1/2 months pregnant over to the apartment and investigated the trouble. There was some lady in there like a drug addict or hooker or something and the pregnant lady actually argued with her to throw her out until it got physical. The lady or her pimp or whatever came back and shot the pregnant lady right in the stomach. Mom and baby almost died (baby got shot). DH and I obviously felt bad for her but both agreed that she jeopardized HERSELF.
I have a pretty hot temper but any time I want to yell at some a-hole in a parking lot or something I remember that now I am extra vulnerable and I am jeopardizing a lot more than just my own well being.

I would have just left. It wasn't worth the trouble or the anxiety of having to watch over my shoulder in my own neighborhood.
At one point I was telling my husband to just give her the spot but he was really insisting on staying he said it was all about the "principle" lol. Even though I was ready to give up I saw where he was coming from.
Still dont know if we made the right decision!!

OMG, that just crazy! That woman was a ******! I'm glad you, baby and DH are okay. Next time, just leave! It's not worth it.
Also, pepper spray is legal to carry on Long Island but NOT in NYC. I still carry one when I go to the city for work because I have to go to abandon buildings and sometimes there are squatters. DH says it's not a big deal if I get caught with a pepper spray since I a woman and preggo. The cops will probably confiscate it. If I were a 6 foot tall, 200lb man carrying a pepper spray then I'll have some explaining to do.

I am glad you are ok. However, in all honesty, I would have just moved my car. Just the stress alone would not have been worth the parking spot to me.

honestly, I would find out what this guy has a record of. Do you drive by yourself at night or early morning?
I totally think you were in the right, and I would have done the same thing. However, that doesn't negate the fact that now some crazy woman and guy know your car and your faces. I don't want to scare you, I would just be a bit more careful around your neighborhood when your by yourself, because seriously they sound like nut jobs.
I carry pepper spray for this reason, but I was also trained for it through my old job. Maybe they have a class for it?
The cops didnt tell me exactly what KIND of record he had... but it must have been bad b/c they detained him for a good amount of time!! Im really scared that they were waiting a block away and they know our faces too but what can I do?? I always come home late from grad class, around 8pm I hate this neighborhood and I cant wait till we move out in June. I will ask my hubby about the pepper spray thing though.. is it legal to carry it without training?
Well I'm thinking that the cop told you he had a record because it may be something not so good, because legally I'm not sure he was aloud to.
I'm in NJ, so I'm not sure where you live if its legal, but to be quite honest I would carry it even if isn't wasn't legal lol. I only said the class because you want to be sure you use it correctly. If its really windy out, do not use it, otherwise it's really not complicated. Mine looks like a lip gloss haha, and I flick the safety and shoot it. Shoot for the eyebrows, and then eyes, as you want them to rub it and make it worse. Be aware that pepper spray will not always work on everyone, and it is not lethal or harmful for more than a few minutes, so do not stick around.
There is always the option of a alert whistle. The sound is alarming and may make the attacked back off, but to be quite honest I don't think many people will actually help, so its really only to put someone off guard.
I've done a number of safety protocols at my last job if you have any other questions just FM me.

People are absolutely crazy! Good for you guys for staying there. I'd be nervous too about leaving the car.
