Creative ways to announce you first pregnancy

DH and I are traveling to Europe for Christmas to tell his family about our pregnancy. We probably won't have a sonogram pic by then so can't show them. Chat Icon But, anyone have creative ideas for us? We want to tell them in a memorable way, especially since they live so far away and won't be able to see me growing and growing in a regular basis.

You can always get them a pretty frame and put a poem about the baby in it... once they read it, it'll be all about the celebration!

Here's a poem for Christmas:

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,
I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands, 'nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song, or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come summer time,
That’s when they say I'm due.
I'll be your first grandchild; I can't wait till I meet you.
All I ask between now and then is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait, because of all the love we'll know.
So have a Merry Christmas
A wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part
Of this great family!

We wanted to tell our families like a mastercard commercial but not sure if we were going to do it.

We were initially thinking going into the city and taking a pic of the two of us at the tree at rockefeller center. And then add at the bottom of the picture:

Train ride into the city to see the Tree: $9.00
Hot cocoa to keep warm: $x.xx
Skating at rockerfeller center: $x.xx
Knowing that there are actually three people in this photograph: PRICELESS.

The other option was taking a picture of us in front of our tree at home:

Real christmas tree: $35.00
Hot cocoa to keep us warm: $x.xx
Christmas music CD to play while decorating tree: $x.xx
Known that there are actually three poeple in this photograph: PRICELESS.

I didn't post the way we are thinking of actually doing it now. We were going to put a diaper in a small box with a note saying: "Coming soon" and the due date. Since we might be telling our families at christmas, we figured we'd wrap it up and give it as a gift!
