Crib & shower question??
My shower date was pushed back, so its 6 weeks before due date...
Would you buy crib yourself and if so when?
I know some family members prob will buy some bigger items on registry, including crib, but isn't waiting till 6 weeks before kinda pushing it? For DH to put together, and what if baby arrives early? Should I just buy the crib myself and leave rest of stuff for family/friends to get?

Re: Crib & shower question??
I didn't realize a crib was something you would put on the registry for a baby shower.
My mom was pressuring me hard core to buy our furniture and bought it for us way before my actual shower. If you think your parents or DH's parents are going to buy you furniture, I'd invite them to go furniture shopping with you and let them pick up the bill.

Re: Crib & shower question??
6 weeks... it depends on where you buy the crib from- certain cribs are in stock...others 14 weeks for delivery...
it seems like alot of times a parent offers to buy a crib

Re: Crib & shower question??
I went last weekend after our first order got cancelled. We were told up to 14 weeks to get the crib unless it was in stock (not much was in stock). We are 12 weeks out and were told we were kind of pushing it.
So, I would buy the crib.

Re: Crib & shower question??
I probably wouldn't put it on my registry, but if you know of someone who wants to buy it i would let them know what you want.
Also, you can always put it on your registry and if its not purchased as the shower date gets closer just go out and get it yourself if your getting nervous.
In my family, usually whoever buys you the crib arranges to either have it delivered to your house(so you may get it before the shower anyways) or brings it over and helps you put it together.
