Crisscross applesauce..... Seriously?
Ok, so I am obviously out of the loop. Went to have all the grandkids take photos together and the photographer tells the kids to crisscross applesauce. I am thinking what the fluck . Apparently this is pc for Indian style.
Anyone thinks we as a country are going to far with PC'ness? I mean really crisscross applesauce doesn't even make sense.

Re: Crisscross applesauce..... Seriously?
I could see saying 'sit crisscross' but the applesauce, I'm not sure what that has to do with it.
Isn't crisscross applesauce in a schoolyeard hand clapping game?

Same here, but I am 36 Maybe it is a regional thing? I never thought of it as a PC version of Indian style, I just thought is was another phrase.

Re: Crisscross applesauce..... Seriously?
As soon as DD#1 started Preschool, I was introduced to this. Apparently Indian Style was offensive

In addition to "Criscross applesauce" my kids have had teachers that called it "pretzel style"

I remember when this was deemed not-PC, I think I may have been in highschool. I at the time... but I'm old too.

If it was called Native American Style would it still be offensive?

Re: Crisscross applesauce..... Seriously?
They use criss cross applesauce in maddie's pre-k and used it in nursery as well.. applesauce has nothing to do with it, but i think it's just "fun" cause it rhymes.. they haven't used the term indian-style in a while, and quite frankly, I think it's cuter to use crisscross applesauce anyway.

Re: Crisscross applesauce..... Seriously?
I don't see the big deal. My DD's schools use that term. I never gave it a second thought. It makes sense b/c your legs are criss crossed and the apple sauce is just to make it a fun saying.

Isn't crisscross applesauce in a schoolyeard hand clapping game?

They also use it to teach multiplication of 2 digit numbers in my district!

Re: Crisscross applesauce..... Seriously?
As a preschool teacher we use the CrissCross Applesauce term ALL the time. I dont think the kids would even know what we were saying if we told them to sit indian style lol.
