Re: cruise lines
We have been on 3 cruises & I have to say that hands down Princess was the best line.
That was our first cruise & we received the best service we could imagine. The food was amazing & the staff went above & beyond. I can't really comment on the accommodations bc we were on the "Pacific" Princess which was the original "Love Boat" That meant there were only 600 passengers.
The next cruise we did was Disney. Of course we went with family that all had kids & it is a perfect ship if you are bringing little ones. The ship itself was beautiful & the accommodations were the biggest we have seen. We had an oceanview room that was like a suite. The food to us was not up to par & I think you truly were paying for "Disney"
For our HM, we went on NCL Dawn out of NY. We wanted to try the freestyle cruising. We were not too fond of the food. DH & I thought it was below par & you truly didn't enjoy your dinners. The ship was nice but since the tip is already figured into your "stateroom" bill, we felt the staff truly didn't go out of their way for you. While on our HM, we found out that NCL had re-vamped the ship for that voyage to see if it would be accepted & liked. So apparantly we got on the wrong time
DH & I are planning another cruise real soon & we are headed back to Princess.

Re: cruise lines
I have been on NCL (many years ago it has changed a lot since then), Celebrity (around 11 times) and Princess (2 times), and one mediterranean cruise on a now defunct line.
I would recommend Celebrity or Princess.
Celebrity has the best service and food - the entertainment is good but not great. We have never had a bad Celebrity cruise.
Princess the service was also very good - not quite as good as Celebrity - but only a very small step down - the food was "eh" compared to celebrity - a lot of not so greats with a few okays and a few really goods. But the entertainment was excellent and really enjoy our Princess cruises. The speciality restaurants are really good.
We plan on trying RCCL sometime in the future - We have had a number of friends and family who love them - they have said that although they have said the food is hit or miss - the entertainment is excellent and they love this line.
I don't think you can go wrong with Celebrity, Princess or RCCL - all three are excellent lines and have great ships.

Re: cruise lines
been on 6...
two short royal caribbean one 7 day royal caribbean one princess-7 day one celebrity-honeymoon to meditteranean-12 night one carnival- 7 day
all were very different but all good in their own way...
my favorite being celebrity-might be because it was a European cruise and for my honeymoon, but it was really amazing...food, service-best service on any ship we have been on-by far my favorite- destinations were amazing of course
least favorite food and service were on the short cruises-but they had the most lively dance club
carnval- food was ehh, but service was decent- it was a new years eve cruise- we had a lot of fun- party ship- young people, BUT lots of kids...
7 day Royal is a mix of people which i like- food was good-service was good-was my first cruise so I loved it-possibly because it was my first
princess- suberb food- service was kind of snotty- more of an older crowd- although it was many years ago and i was younger-this could have changed
