Crying when being dropped off at daycare...
DH tell me that sometimes DS cries when he drops him off at daycare. Today when i dropped him off he started to cry and reach his hand out for me.
Is this normal for a child just starting daycare? This is his 3rd week there. When i pick him up he always seems happy though but he is so glad to see me.

Re: Crying when being dropped off at daycare...
It's totally normal - and not just in the beginning.
DS actually usually does not cry when I drop him off. He usually can't get to the toys fast enough! He can barely spare a second to look up at me and smile! I think this is partly because he started at 4 months and it is what he knows and he's comfortable with his teachers (he's 13 1/2 months now). But, the older kids in his class almost always cry when dropped off. I think the separation anxiety is stronger with the older ones. DS does sometimes cry and reach out for me, but he stops as soon as I leave. It's much harder on you than him.

Re: Crying when being dropped off at daycare...
My nephew hated being dropped off at first, he was 2 1/2 when he started. Like I repkied in your previous post, it's easier on you and them when they are younger......the separation anxiety isn't as bad. DS didn't make a peep when he started at 5 months....

Re: Crying when being dropped off at daycare...
Totally normal S...my DD gets dropped off at my MIL's house & the last week or so she puts her head on my chest & looks away from nanny & then will reach out to me to hold her when Nanny takes her. I think its more their age than anything
