Currency Exchange

Where is the best to do it

WE are going to Ireland on Friday! (yeah) and we need to get Euros. We are going to use our credit cards for souvenirs and all...I already alerted the cc companies we would be in Ireland for 8 days. We basically just need drinking money because all of our meals except lunch and fees to get into all attractions are included.

Re: Currency Exchange

I would just go to your own bank and get currency for the trip and go to a cash machine when you get there!

Re: Currency Exchange

cash machine.

ETA: if you have HSBC there are no fees if you use their ATMs. Check with your bank, they may have some sort of agreement. For example I dont get charged any fees at certain ATMs b/c of a credit union we have an account at.

I would wait and exchange most of my money there. I have changed money before in NY and got a very bad rate of exchange. Perhaps you could just get enought to buy a few essentials and then I would get it at a bank in Ireland. AIB and Bank of Ireland are the biggest, but are not open on Saturday's. If you can hold over until the Monday, that would be the best bet.

I totally agree!!!! You will get the best rate when you use your ATM card or credit card...never exchange money in US.....Have fun
