CURVES question/ related/ are they closing????
I have not been to Curves in awhile b/c I hurt my ankle. I called today to find out when I need to renew, and they told me they were closing the location I go to at the end of the month. I can go to 2 other ones and take my membership there. They told me it was b/c of the economy. She then left a message on my machine saying how convient that my renewal comes right before they close.... Should I renew somewhere else? Or with the way the economy is just not renew? It really is awful that so many businesses are going under and I feel I cannot trust anyone with my money. Help? Any advice? Has anyone else who goes to Curves had this happen? What would u do? TIA

Re: CURVES question/ related/ are they closing????
My mother owned a Curves in Florida that I managed, and they've all been going downhill the last couple of years (she sold it before she started losing any money). A lot of them started closing even before the economy went south. If you do renew your membership, I would suggest you do the monthly draft on a credit card......I definitely wouldn't prepay because you probably won't get your money back if they close. HTH!

Re: CURVES question/ related/ are they closing????
There are cheaper gyms around that have attracted Curves' clients. Curves is not that cheap. I just joined LR and they told me they set up a "circuit trainign" section so thtat the people from Curves who signed up with LR would be familiar with. So I guess Curves customers are switching to other gyms.
Cuts (the men version of Curves) closed so many location. I am not even sure they are still operating.
I would not be surprised Curves closed his locations in this economy.

Funny thing, I started to call around to local gyms and found one near me- that is accepting CURVES people and have circuit training plus in there gym! Thank you for both replying!

I use to go to curves but after a while i stopped once i had to renew... I tried ladies express workout and it's like a curves "But" A lot more equipment... But to answer your question i wouldn't renew it knowing that location is closing, Because if you renewed some where else what would happen if they closed??? Good luck i hope it works out for you.

This is the place I am going to check out next week. What location do you go to? I called and they said they offer classes, etc. How do you like it so far? I am looking forward to having more to do then just a circuit - I like the idea they have other equipment and classses....

Re: CURVES question/ related/ are they closing????
Planet Fitness is a good place for the curves type workout.
Besides the regular gym stuff, they have a section that is a 30 min express workout. I actually think their 30 min workout worked more than the one I use to do at curves. These machines are actual weight machines so you can control how much you do. They have the steps in between for cardio too. And a membership is $10. I was paying $40 last year for my curves membership.
