cyst on ovary
Had my 8 week check up today and baby is fine and once again, we saw the heart beat! The doctor told me that he saw a cyst on my right ovary where the egg came from but, told me not to worry. First of all, we didn't like the doctor and will never see him again but, I am curious has to what is going on. I am calling the group tomorrow and going to speak with my regular GYNO doctor and see what he says. Is this something to worry about?

Re: cyst on ovary
my SIL had a huge one at her 10 week check up, it went away on its own within 3 weeks of that visit. The Dr said it was nothing to worry about and the PG hormones would actually help shrink it naturally.

Re: cyst on ovary
I went yesterday at 7 weeks, they told me the exact same thing. I have a cyst on my right ovary. She said not to worry about it, it just means what side you ovulated on and it will dissolve! I thought that was kind of amazing that they can actually tell you which side you ovulated on. Hope you feel better

Re: cyst on ovary
I had this problem too. One cyst on the side that I ovulated from that they said would stick around for awhile (corpus luteal cyst) and help to maintain the pregnancy (releasing progesterone, I think). I do have other endometrial cysts on the other ovary that they monitor at each ultrasound to make sure that they don't get any bigger. (They are getting smaller due to the preg hormones)
It shouldn't be anything to worry about but definitely ask the doctor to explain it to you so that you can understand exactly what is going on.

Re: cyst on ovary
My older sister had ovarian cysts through both pregnancies. They dissipated on their own too.

Same thing with me, the one that you can see in the ultrascreen gives me a little bit of cramping once in a while and the doc said its just part of the cyst dissolving.
