7 cm Ovarian Cyst
I went to see my RE today for a mid cycle sonogram and he spotted a 7cm cyst on my ovary. I do remember feeling some pain during sexual intercourse about 2 weeks ago. The crazy thing is that I had a sonogram about 5 weeks ago and did not have this cyst. The doctor wants me to come back in one week to see what the cyst is doing. I am currently on metformin. I did take provera to induce a period, which is about the time I felt the pain on my side. Anyone ever have experience with cysts. I'm really worried. The doctor seemed kind of worried too.

Metformin doesn't usually cause cysts. In fact, it is used to try and eleviate the risk of cysts. Are you taking any other fertility medications? Clomid, femara?
I hope you are feeling better. Many cysts tend to just go away on their own! I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Re: 7 cm Ovarian Cyst
Well, last October I was having painful intercourse (deep... ) and I went to my doctor and she felt a mass so she sent me to the Radiologist for a sonogram. Well, unfortunately for me it turned out to be severe (Stage IV) Endometriosis. I had 4 ovarian cysts off of my right ovary totalling more than 10cm. They didn't know how they didn't burst already they were so big. I ended up needing a Laparoscopy. It wasn't bad, but during they discovered that I had the Endo all over in very small incriments as well. Too small to operate on since it would cause too much scar tissue. My left ovary and tubes looked great though thankfully. I was basically told that I needed to go on Lupron for 6 months to make the remaining Endo dissolve, and that I would not be able to get PG again. I was devastated. But after deciding with my DH that we didin't want to do the Lupron, we would TTC on our own, and around New Year's Eve I was PG! It was/is a miracle baby! I was also told that my son Caiden is also a miracle baby considering I had a cyst on the same ovary with him that during that PG was told it could be cancer, so that was scary, but they said the cyst would dissolve on it's own during PG and it mostly did, so no one thought anything of it. But it turns out that the results from the biopsy from that cyst that it was inconclusive of Endo. So basically I had it with my son Caiden as well and just didn't know it.
Anyway, sorry this is so long, but after this baby I have to take BCP for the first time in my life. I need to take them to try to control the growth of the Endo. I will probably need another LAP at some point, but hopefully not for a long time!
I hope you don't have to go through any of this!
When I had the pain during sex, it was only here and there at first, not all the time, and then it started being everytime during deep penetration. Hopefully it's nothing. Having ovarian cysts doesn't always mean Endo. But I do know that if it is Endo and someone has been TTC for a while having the surgery can help big time. There were many oopsies during the right time of the month with us and nothing until I had surgery. I got PG the first month TTC after the surgery!
Good luck to you, and if you need to talk you can FM me!!!

Thanks for your post and words of encouragement. That certainly is a miracle that you got pregnant.
Are there any symptoms of endometriosis? Did they only discover that upon doing the lap?

Re: 7 cm Ovarian Cyst
Well, the only symptom I had that brought me to the doctors was the pain during intercourse. At the time during the examination she only felt a mass and wanted me to go for an ultrasound, which I did. It's at that point I was told by the radiologist that he was pretty sure it was Endo. Normally you can tell by just an ultrasound if you have Endo or not, usually you need a Lap, but since the cysts were so big he could see that they were flluid filled cysts. After that I was sent to an RE and took it from there. You can have no symptoms, like I didn't really have any, and have severe Endo or have really bad symptoms and only have a mild case of Endo. It's definitely weird how it can work. They did discover during the Lap how bad the Endo was. They were able to see how much Endo I really had. It was basically all over my insides except my tubes.
I hope everything works out for you!

Re: 7 cm Ovarian Cyst
I just had a lap too. I had no pain and the cyst was removed and it turns out to be severe endo. I'm starting on Lupron in the next week or so.

If you just had Lapro I was wondering why your starting Lupron now? I had Lapro on 7/11 and was put on Lupron 2 months before the surgery. My RE told me that he put me on it prior to try to shrink them before teh surgery. Did your RE not get everything from the Lapro? Who is your RE?
