Cytotec - very scared
Anyone have experience with this drug?
I was told today that this was a chemical pregnancy. The numbers were dropping, but then today they went up again. No sac seen anywhere and lining is at 8.
The Dr. is calling in Cytotec to the pharmacy for me to take tomorrow. The nurse said I should expect a lot of pain and very heavy bleeding. I am scared to death. I don't want to hemorrhage.

I don't have experience with this but in my m/c last year I asked for something to speed things along and they said waiting was better... Maybe ask if you could wait it out a little?

Re: Cytotec - very scared
First of all, I am very sorry for your loss.
I used this drug during my miscarriage. I began miscarrying at 9.5 weeks (due to blighted ovum) and my OB prescribed it to move things along. I was terrified after reading the internet and hearing these horror stories! I lined my bed with towels and prepared for a long night. It was like nothing...well, you know what I mean. The hours before I took it were a lot tougher actually--like very strong cramping. In the end, I avoided a d&c and was grateful for that. I did need to go to the doctor a couple of days later and she "finished" the whole thing, for lack of a better word.
Like the pp, I wonder if you could wait on this a few more days to see if your body handles things on its own...
I hope this is over for you quickly and I wish you peace...

Re: Cytotec - very scared
Well I took them. Start at 3 finish by 4. Crampy, bleeding isn't bad -at least not yet. I did however have tons of chills and wound up with a fever of 101. Took Tylenol and its slowly going down. Don't know if its from this med or from the rhogam shot I got this morning.
I'm scared of what's to come bc right now, it's just like my period. I was only 5w3d and have no sac. Also lining measured 8 today so maybe it Won't be a lot? I don't know what to think.
I hate this. I hate it so much

Cytotec - very scared
that early you prob wont bleed much more than a period. i think its lame that your doctor put so much fear in you about the amount. i naturally mc at 5w3d as well (beta never rose properly) and if i didnt know i was pregnant i probably wouldnt have thought anything of the amount of blood. although it did linger with spotting a few days longer than average.
im kinda surprised they even gave you anything to take at that stage in the game. i guess maybe the concern was ectopic since they saw no sac and the beta dipped then rose. i wouldnt be overly concerned about the bleeding itself, just make sure they monitor the beta down to 0, esp if they suspect ectopic. so sorry you are going through this

Re: Cytotec - very scared
i took it. it really wasn't bad. i experienced cramping and diarrhea. you have to dissolve the pill in your gums, you don't chew it.
the pill didn't work for me because my pregnancy was in my tubes. this pill will clear out anything in your uterus.
i hope this helps. i'm so sorry for your loss.
