Day Care Moms- Please weigh in on this. 2 seperate issues/questions
DD wears pull ups. I was buying the Pampers Easy Ups because I felt that they were more absorbant than the Huggies Pull Ups- and DD pees alot.
So, last week, there is a note requesting that I bring in the Huggies because they have the velcro on the side (pampers do not) and therefore are easier for them to get on and off. Whatever- I complied with the request.
Prior to the request, DD was coming home in pull-ups that I had not brought in- but I guess it was because they had the velcro. Don't even ask me what happened to the ones that I brought in.
So today, DD comes home in a completely different pull-up type of diaper- and to be honest, I am a little pi$$ed off. At least if you are going to request that I bring in a specific brand, you should at least put them on DD. Am I wrong? Would that make you mad also?
Issue number 2: Is your daycare closed for all of the national holidays? MLK Jr Day, Presidents Day, etc? Ours is, which I don't have a problem with- however, they are also closed for some additional days that are really getting to me. They are closed for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the day AFTER Easter. They are located in a church- so while I am annoyed, I "get" that they are closed for 2 religious days. However, I do not get why they are closed the day after Easter. They did not do it last year. DH picked up DD today, and inquired as to why they were closed the Monday after Easter, and the director's response was "Ohhhh, Its the first day of Easter break, so that is why we are closed!" Huh? Would you be annoyed also?
Sorry that this is SOOO long. If you have read the whole thing- THANK YOU!
Edited for clarification: I'm not annoyed that they are closed on national holidays- or the holy days (Thurs and Fri before Easter)- but what I am annoyed about is that they are closed the day after Easter- especially when they did not do that last year!

Issue # 1 would make me furious and I would complain. I'm having a similar issue with wipes. The daycare I use rotates the wipes the parents bring in. DD uses fragrance & dye free wipes - some of the other kids do not, and when they use those she gets a rash.
Issue # 2 - yes my center is also closed on those holidays. Thank goodness so is my job (DH's is not closed). I did not realize this when I enrolled DD, and I'm a bit annoyed at some of the days that they are closed.

Thank you for your response!
I really don't have too much of an issue with all of the holidays- but they are closed for the week between Christmas and New Years- and that bothers me- so this extra day off is really getting to me.

holidays. ours is closed the standard holidays & martin luther king, presidents day, and columbus day.
if they are located in a church then i would agree they would be closed those days. just like a daycare in a jewish temple place id assume would be closed on some jewish days.
with regards to the diapers... my place has told me before. If they are running low they will tell me to bring more. If they run out they will borrow one from another kid thats the same size and then give one back when i bring new ones in. So maybe some other kids is running out and they are replacing back? However if its happening alot- something seems up. I would be ticked cause pampers and huggies cost most.... so if your spending more your kid should be the one actually using it.

Issue 1: Yes I would be annoyed and I would say something.
Issue 2: I would not be annoyed. The daycare told us prior to signing what their calendar was like. We knew it going in.

I'm totally not annoyed that they are closed the Thursday and Friday before Easter since those are holy days. I get that- but what I am annoyed about is that fact that they are closed the Monday after, which is NOT a holy day at all!

#1 - I hate when daycare does this and the one time I pointed it out, they apologized and it never happened again. My assumption was that his little tray was out of diapers and the teacher grabbed the closest one. Not a huge deal but in YOUR case I think it's a big deal since they specifically requested a brand and still sent her home in someone else's pull-ups
#2 - We get a list in the beginning of the year of all the days they are closed. It's a center, not in a church, so I'm sure the days are different but we do have time to plan ahead. I think the day after Easter is a common day off for some business, but not all. Do you get advanced notification of the days the daycare is closed? if so, I'd be annoyed but not pizzed. If not I'd be mad, because that's not a day everyone expects to take off.

Yeah, we got the schedule in the beginning of the school year- so I sure have had enough time to look it over- and to plan for it- but I just started a new job, so most of these days are going to fall on DH taking off- and I just feel bad because he basically has to blow all of his vacation days on days that daycare is closed.
