Day Trip Out East
Where should we go? What should we do? Looking for suggestions for what to do and where to eat for a day trip.
Thanks!

Re: Day Trip Out East
We just did a day trip with 3 DC . We went to Montauk. We left at 9 and got out there at about 10:45. WE went to Hither hills state park and went right to the beach. After the beach we took showers in the bath house shower facility and changed our clothes and headed to town, where we walked around for a little bit. THen we went to a pub and ate dinner. Walked around a little more shopped got the kids ice cream and headed home. We left Montauk at about 7:30 and we were home by 9. It was a nice day trip. We try and do a day trip once a year out there.

Re: Day Trip Out East
I would
Head out east, north fork - see the farm stands and wineries! Eat at the SoundView in!
From Greenport (north fork) take a ferry over to Shelter Island. From Shelter Island, you can take a ferry to Sag Harbor and then drive into the Hamptons and even Montauk
We did it all in one day (though we were staying in Greenport). If you wanted to stay over for a night, I would DEFF recommend the Forham House B/B. Pam (the keeper) is the sweetest woman alive and her breakfasts are unreal
FM me if you have any questions, we do this a few times a year. I am one of those crazies with the NOFO sticker on my car (north fork)

Re: Day Trip Out East
Things do to -
North Fork:
Mattituck - Love Lane. Adorable shops. Mattituck - there is a restaurant called The Old Mill Inn, hidden away up north on the water, great food.
Greenport - TONS of shopping, movies, minigolf, Claudios, there is a new brewery, antiques etc. Greenport - The SoundView Inn. Great food, right on the sound. They also have a motel there
Oriet Point - beach, furtherest point on North Fork as Montauk is on South fork
The north fork - great wineries and farmstands all along the North Road and the main road.
South Fork: Sag Harbor - quaint shopping area, good restaurants, water sports
Hamptons - self explainatory
Montauk - light house, beaches
Shelter Island - Not too much to do but a beautiful area to pass through.
