Recommend a nice day trip out east (south fork)
DH and I are thinking of spending our 5-year anniversary on 6/27 by having a nice, relaxing day out east. We have been to the wineries several times, and I have never been on the South Fork. We're thinking that it would be nice to go to a town with nice beach, cute shops, restaurants, etc. Any recommendations? TIA!

Are you just looking for a day trip? Sag Harbor is a beautiful small town. There is Main Street with unique little shops, and I would highly recommend Il Capuccino if you are looking to go out to dinner...The beach is very close to Sag Harbor Main Street, its also very nice.
I grew up there, so i am bias, but really, it is a fantastic town.

I second Sag Harbor for shops and restaurants--also, both Channing Daughters and Wolffer wineries are close to Sag Harbor...for the beach, I prefer Montauk. You could drive out to Montauk to spend some time on the beach and then head westward, going up to Sag Harbor on the way home for a late lunch/early dinner and browsing the shops.

Sag Harbor is great. I love it there.
I also reccommend East Hampton. Cute town, GREAT shopping, and fantastic restaurants (check out either Della Feminas or Nick and Tonis).
And I second the idea of checking out Wolffer Vineyard - it's GORGEOUS.
