Day Trip Suggestions
OK, so we are off from work for one week, the week of October 10th, to celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary. We're not doing the big vacation thing this year, already been on several this year and going to Rome next March, so we're looking for some ideas on some day trips, some fun things to do.
Note that we're going to Atlantic City on Sunday, 10/9 and coming home on Monday, 10/10.
Also note that on 10/12 (our actual anniversary) we are spending the day in NYC to see a show (Hairspray) and have a nice dinner.
This gives us 2-3 days more to play with. We want to get some errands in and start looking at wall units, but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, note that we don't do wineries and are not into that whole B&B thing.
TIA

Re: Day Trip Suggestions
The Cloisters (190th strret/broadway) are beautiful. There is a 4 acre park surrounding it in addition to the museum itself. The views of the hudson are georgeous. Rockerfeller actually bought the land across the hudson in New Jersey so that the view would always be beautiful.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has great exhibitions. The medieval body armor as well as the Temple of Dendur is really nice. They have wonderful impressionism paintings as well as American History Paintings (George Washington cross the Delaware) and America furniture. The planitarium is also there.
The Guggenhiem has a lot of nice things and the Museum of Natural History is always a good time.
If the weather is nice, you can take a circle line cruise around Manhattan or take a trip to Ellis Island to research your ancestors

Re: Day Trip Suggestions
Apple picking! Either head a little bit upstate, or out east on LI.
Make a day out of it - hit the outlets, AND an apple orchard.
