Daycare Costs

While we are TTC, DH and I are starting a baby fund. We are not sure about daycare costs. Can anyone share (or FM me) what they pay and what kind of care they use (private/day care center/etc.)? Thanks so much!

Mine is $$$ but I live in a big city (Chicago) so its more comparable to NYC prices rather than LI.

Infant room (6 weeks - 15 months): $24,000/year

Toddler Room: $19,000/year

I just placed an ad on Craigslist to do babysitting in my home and am charging $45 a day and only for the days I babysit.

I think the average for in-home care is $40 - $60 per day.

Not sure about centers though.

My DD is watched in someone's home. I pay her $50 a day. (not licensed though).

I recently checked out 2 centers on LI.

One in hauppauge wanted $315 week for 6 weeks to 18 months - FT

One in Islip wanted $270 week for 6 weeks to 18 months - FT

Not sure which one I will go with yet. DS will be starting hopefully when he is 13 months. If not, he may not start until he is 18 months. If & when he starts it will only be part time. He is with my mom right now.

DS#1 Goes to a daycare center and we pay $150/week for him (he's 4). The infant room at his daycare is $260/week.

DS#2 Goes to a home-based daycare and she charges $25/day (he's 2). For infants, I think she charges $35/day

BTW...I live in Chicago also

nassau county center- ft $260 a week...

however i did see a lot around $300 a week

DS is in daycare... 4 days a week from 8:30-4:30 and we pay $1090.00 a month..... Good luck!

We pay $900 a month.

It will drop to $600 a month when she turns 2.

DS is PT in one of the chain centers....when he was an infant it was $207/wk, in the toddler room it is $197/wk.

I recently inquired about daycare costs in North Shore Nassau. The daycares I called were in the $300-500 per week range for infants. Prices drop by about $50/week once they hit 18 months.

On LI I paid $16,500.yr for infant

I am currently paying $13,200 for Toddler with a school program.
