Daycare moms - WWYD if your child said this...
Last Friday, DS was breaking out in hives. He has no allergies that we know of. We could not figure out what was causing the breakout so as we started asking him what he ate at school (we send all food except when they have parties). He started listing the food and said the doctor gave him a stick. We said what doctor? He said my doctor at school (his daycare is in an office building and there is a dentist upstairs). He said that the doctor gave him poison and that his friends did not want him anymore. We were shocked and said, what friends - he said my friends (and listed them) want him to go in the sky.
I have no idea who would say anything like this to him - he is almost 3. WWYD?
I should also add that we are not crazy about his daycare teacher that he spends most of his day with and I know I sound judgemental when I say - its the look on her face. She never smiles and also looks miserable. I always wonder why someone who looks so unhappy works with such small children. I am wondering if she could say something like that to him......

Is this a center? If so go DIRECTLY to the director.. why is the dentist near the children??? If you are uneasy with the teacher..get him out of there!! mommy instincts!!!!

Are you sure he's referring to the dentist upstairs? Maybe there was someone else who gave him a tongue depressor or something? Do you think some of this might be his imagination?

IMO, the dentist upstairs should have NO contact with him, EVER.
Go meet w/ the Director immediately, but my instict says to pull him out of there.

There is a security code that needs to be used to get into the daycare. Each parent has their own code. I do worry about the dentist and I am going to meet with the director today.
And yes - DH and I have decided to look at other daycares.

Honestly, even if some of it is his imagination, I would still get m kid out of there.

Oh, I hear you, but god, if the dentist really is giving things to the kids, I would sue.

Re: Daycare moms - WWYD if your child said this...
Your son, at 3, would have no way of knowing there is a dentist in the building unless he has somehow interacted with him. It could be innocent enough, where the dentist did a little presentation about good tooth hygeine and showed them a tongue depressor or toothbrush. They have done that at our school - they brought in a dentist from one of the local practices and he gave a presentation about good oral hygiene, gave out flyers about his practice, and stickers. But, we, as in the parents, all knew about it because it was on the calendar.
The flip side is if this dentist is frequenting the daycare and talking to the kids and/or giving them things. I'm sure, given what your son said, your imagination will take you to a darker place, but I find it difficult to believe that the dentist would have an opportunity to be alone with one or more of the children if he's on another floor, and there are teachers with the children for the day. But who knows...
Either way, this definitely necessitates a discussion with the director. The dentist giving a little presentation is a great thing, but parents should have an idea about what is going on in the school and should have access to a monthly calendar letting them know exactly what's on the agenda.

I remember when I was in school the dentist would come visit and gave us those red things you chew on that show where you need brush better. Maybe that's what he gave them? Regardless, inappropriate without your consent!!
