moms who use daycare - wwyd?
so im in the process of looking for a daycare for my LO.
i have looked at a few and have narrowed it down to 2.
one is the one im absolutely in LOOOVE with. i love everything about it from the location, the teachers, the security - everything is just PERFECT and what i would ideally want.
the 2nd one is good too. i give it a "b" on the scale. it is a larger daycare ~ but from what the director showed me ~ it is def more of a "baby sitting" vs a school. the location is not as conveinent as the first and there isnt a yard for the children to play. they are building a rooftop playground which will be ready by the time my child would be able to use it.
the dilemma im having is the cost. the one that i love is significantly more than the one that is ok. it seems like a no brainer to financially not strap ourselves but its such a nagging feeling that i want him in the other place.
we planned on buying a house w/in the next year or so - if i do the more expensive daycare it might take longer than that. if i do the cheaper daycare - it will mean more money in the bank.
so wwyd?? would you put your child in the place that isnt perfect? or would you figure out how to afford it so you can keep your peace of mind?
let me add - that when we do buy a house the day care will need to change as we plan on getting out of our current area.

Honestly, i would go with whichever one you are more comfortable with. Even if it means putting your house buying on hold for a little while. I actually wish we were still renting because then i would be able to afford the daycare that i absolutley LOVE for my twins. Unfortunately it's too much and we have to keep looking. JMO. Good luck!

I agree. I'd feel more comfortable going with a daycare that I absolutely love and have no doubts about.
Good Luck!!

I would got to check them both out again to see if you have the same feelings. Ultimately, I would go for the one that you feel the most comfortable with because it will give you peace of mind each and every day.

If it was def about being comfortable I would choose the more exp one but if you feel totally comfortable with the other one - feel that your child would get love and have absolute safety and it was more of an issue of a less intellectually stimulating environment that may not be AS important for the first year. . if you are going to move and probably change anyway. . how soon would you move if you could put more money to your house? Would that put you in a place where you could make a different day care decision anyway?
I agree - go back to both and really get a sense. .any gut hesitations I'd say opt for the better one but if it's really close then I might save money. .

honestly, you have to go with your gut. when i found a daycare i loved for DD1, I didn't care if it cost more. she had such a hard time separating from me (any time) and I had a hard time sending her at first. it was a comfort to know i was pleased with the people/place. in the end, she loved going and i know i did the right thing. you want to love the place where you DC spends so much time and is so close to these people for his/her care.

I agree you have to go with your gut on this one.. I loved the daycare we've picked for DS... but it's 15 minutes further away from house then my second choice. In the end, my second choice was a waiting list anyways, but I think even if it were to become available I would stick with first place we picked because I know in my heart it's a better place for him!

ITA- as long as I felt like my baby would be well cared for- I would go with the less expensive one now- because the education/play ground stuff you can always switch to later when the child will get more use out of it
but ultimately you have to feel comfortable with your final decision- good luck!

I agree with this. If you think you will only be there for 1 year, go back and view ONLY the infant rooms. Which one are you more comfortable with ? Which teachers do you prefer ? Ask them about how they help the infants reach their milestones. What activities they do on a daily basis. The playground and all that will not matter becuase you will be moving before DC can use them.
I think the 1 st year a loving, nurturing environmnet is most important. Which one feels better ?
I picked a daycare for Julia where I got the best vibe from the infant teachers. They seemed warm & lving and that was important to me. When she gets older I may choose to move her to a more educational daycare, but we'll see.
Good Luck!

Re: moms who use daycare - wwyd?
All the places I looked at weren't perfect.
I picked the most convenient one.
BTW: buying a house may take a looong time. Just keep it in mind.
