Daycare Moms: Are you giving DC the H1N1 shot?
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I can't remember seeing one specifically for daycare moms.
Have you decided if you're giving DC the H1N1 shot?
Would your opinion change if someone at DC's daycare had the H1N1 virus? We just got a note last night that a school age child had a probable case of H1N1. DS is in one of the infant rooms and the child hasn't been in the daycare since Friday, but it's pushing me more and more towards getting DS vaccinated.

I didn't give the shot when I gave them the flu shot but now that there is a confirmed case of H1N1, I'm reconsidering it.

DS just got the first dose of the H1N1 vaccine the day before yesterday along with some other immunizations. No reactions and no fever. Ironically, we gave it to him the week after both DS and I recovered from getting the flu! Man was it bad...mine got worse and turned into pneumonia. I had never experienced a flu so bad! I was thinking he and I could escape getting the vaccine since we both caught the virus, but the ped told us to get it anyway to make sure the right strains are covered.
The virus already made its way around the daycare earlier this spring and who knows when it'll make hit the daycare again. I chose to give it to him to protect him and also DD (who is too little to get the vaccine.)

And no it wouldnt change my opinion if someone in daycare got it. Though to be honest ... I'd pull her from daycare for a few weeks if I could manage it and my Aunt was willing to care for her. If not, then she'd stay in daycare.

Yes. As soon as my ped has it available I will get it for DS.
I am actually going to her office today to get it for myself. She is giving a clinic today for the shot for kids 4 and over... and parents of infants under 6 months. (she's going to give it to me because I am pregnant)
They said the next clinic they will do is for kids under 4.

Definitely. There are a couple of kids in DD's daycare who seem to be sick pretty often (not that DD hasn't shared her own germs too) so I want her to have it. Also, since DH and I both teach I want her to have it in case we aren't able to get vaccinated.

possibly. The ped told us not to but I had a long conversation with a CDC worker when I was on line here in CA waiting for my shot. I wouldn't let my DS get it since he is under 1 and has had a few bad reactions to shots already but I am thinking about it for my DD. She goes to a preschool with a large number of students. I just don't want to wait on a two hour line like I did for myself on Tues.

just called my peds office bc I do want to get it for DS and they said that they only have it for babies who are govt medicade patients...***!
They said try back again in mid dec!
Its really starting to piss me off that I want to vaccinate DC and I cant!

Yes, DS will get it. I wasn't going to give it to him, but so many kids in his daycare have been out sick this week with flu like symptoms. His ped. recommends it anyway, he is getting it Saturday morning.
