Daycare related question...Am I being paranoid?
My daycare provider provides food for the kids breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am very paranoid when it comes to what Milan eats. DH and I dont eat certain things (i.e. fried foods, too much sweets, fast food etc.).
Will I be too paranoid if I make a list and give it to the provider of what I don't want Milan eating? I dont want to seem b*tchy or anything so this is why i am asking.

Not paranoid at all! I bring in Organic milk for my son and also request that he is never given hot dogs that they sometimes eat for lunch. THey always respect my wishes!

If you don't want your child to eat what is supplied, I think it's only fair to the provider to pack your own food.

Re: Daycare related question...Am I being paranoid?
Ask her if she has a menu that she uses.
Many centers have a rotating (4 week menu) that they have for the season.
My center is small but they still have a registered nutrionist approve the menu. Even with that I'm not entirely happy with it (no fresh fruit, Kix cereal, not everything is whole grain) but it is better than most other centers I considered.

Re: Daycare related question...Am I being paranoid?
i am going back to work (at a daycare) and every week we send a menu home, and if the child wont eat what is on the menu for the day the parents can pack a lunch for them.
you have every right to dictate what your child eats, but if they center or home does not supply it, then i would pack my own things. If that is the case, i am sure you may be able to negotiate a lower fee, since you will be supplying the meals.

This is what we do. During the summer when her school offers lunches, I just pack her lunch instead. Otherwise it's just too confusing.

FirstI would find out wht they are offering, you may find it to be OK.
I'm not at that stage yet, but I would be upset if my DC was offering fatty non-nutritous foods.....

Re: Daycare related question...Am I being paranoid?
Every Friday they give me a copy of the menu. For a while I was only letting him eat on certain days and providing my own food on other days but now he pretty much each every lunch there.
I do try to monitor the menu and I do send notes telling them if there are certain items I don't want him having and most times I supply a subsitute but they also have a lot of fruit on hand and give him that.

Re: Daycare related question...Am I being paranoid?
From my own experience with my own daycare provider, they only feed the kids wholesome foods, I would be shocked if they fed your child any fried foods, or sweets outside of birthday parties.

Re: Daycare related question...Am I being paranoid?
Our daycare gives a weekly menu. I'd bring in my own subsitute food if I didn't want DS to have what they were serving. DS is still in the infant room, so I pack his food anyway. But the Toddler Room and Pre-K Room get lunch.
