Daycare Supplies

DD will be going to daycare in 3 weeks and since we are going away in 2 I'm trying to get everything ready to go to daycare and I need some help. They told me to bring sheets and some extra outfits, diapers and wipes and at the time I was so overloaded with info and paperwork I didn't think to ask a few other questions so I'm hoping the BTDT mommies can help me!

I was going to bring 2 crib sheets (one to put on, one spare) and container of wipes and a refill. But I'm unsure about the rest

How many diapers and extra outfits should I leave there?

Do you leave bibs or do you bring new ones with you everyday? What about bowls and spoons do you just bring them everyday w/ food in them and with the bottles? Do you leave burp cloths or is that not necessary?

Also, what does your DC wear on their feet? At home and even when we are out DD usually only has socks on (She is usually in the bundle me) She has the tiniest feed and most shoes do not fit her! I was planning on sending her in comfy carters outfits everyday (onesies underneath, pants and a shirt)

Am I missing anything? PLEASE HELP!Chat Icon

Re: Daycare Supplies

I think the daycares vary, but these are the protocals at mine

-Leave a box of diapers
-leave wipes
-leave cereal and jarred food

When these run out, they tell me and i bring new ones

I bring bottles dated and labeled on a daily basis

I left 2 crib sheets there and 2 changes of clothes in case he gets dirty and needs a changing

DS kicks off his socks, so I use socks and Robeez shoes. However, most days I try to put him in comfy outfits and save his big boy cooler clothes for weekends ( I actually started making him wear everything there since he has a bigger wardrobe than me)

The daycare suppiles bibs and bowls and spoons

Re: Daycare Supplies

Here's what I have for DS:

Crib sheet (I bring one - they have extra for any accidents but so far we haven't had to use that)

Blanket - I bring a receiving blanket and a little bear that has a little blanket attached

Baby Wipes (sometimes I have the ones that don't need a container...they have a plastic lid type thing attached but other times I have the refills that need a container)

Diapers - I always give them a package of about 40.

Diaper Cream - I give them a tube of whatever I use for DS.

Clothes - I bring two complete outfits, extra socks, and onesies. Whatever I bring home to clean I replace it with another the next day.

Bibs - I bring three at the start of the week. Whenever I bring one home to clean I replace it with another the next day.

Food - I bring his bottles (already made) each day along with his food. I bring his spoon too but have to actually go get it from the cabinet every night because I prefer to wash it myself.

DS wears socks at daycare...and now that it is so cold out and his feet are always so cold I double up on them.

We have a family picture up on his crib, I also bring a little jacket for him to wear if it gets cold...it's a zip-up sweatshirt type thing.

That's pretty much it...oh and EVERYTHING is labelled.

Re: Daycare Supplies

I left 2 full changes of outfits with 3 extra bibs at all times in her box. My dd wasn't that much a spit up/drooler. I left 1 crib sheet in the box and one in the crib and an extra blanket. I also left 2 paci's.

Just socks for her when she was there and comfy outfits.

I left a big package of diapers, wipes, diaper creams, powdered formula and bottled water-they'd let me know when they run low.

Everyday in her little backpack she took in 2 clean bottles and some extra bibs, plus they always wanted her to have a jacket at all times.

Re: Daycare Supplies

I leave supplies at daycare

diapers
wipes
formula
A&D / Balmex / Desitin
Lotion
3-4 bottles
cereal (a full box)
fruits/veggies

on those items they let me know when they are low.

I also leave

3-4 outfits for change (update as she grows)
4-5 bibs
4-5 receiving blankets
1 big crib blanket
2 pack and play sheets
2-3 pairs of socks
1 pair booties
2-3 washcloths
1 bath towel (just in case)

In winter months I also keep an extra hat/gloves in her bag that I carry back and forth each day.

Re: Daycare Supplies

How many diapers and extra outfits should I leave there?

I usually bring a week's work of diapers and two extra outfits (including socks).

Do you leave bibs or do you bring new ones with you everyday?

I sent some of his "old" bibs I didn't really like to daycare. I leave a stock of 5 there at all times.

What about bowls and spoons do you just bring them everyday w/ food in them and with the bottles?

Bring them everyday with the bottles.

Do you leave burp cloths or is that not necessary?

Never left burp cloths there.

Also, what does your DC wear on their feet?

DS just goes in his socks. That seems to be the norm. Only the walkers have shoes.

Am I missing anything? PLEASE HELP!

I took a favorite toy and favorite book and left them there.

A blanket.

Spare formula and a spare bottle in case of an issue.

I always keep a spare jacket/hoodie there too.

Every Friday my daycare packs up EVERYTHING and sends it home for us to wash and I just pack everything up again Sunday night.

Re: Daycare Supplies

I pack 15 diapers for the week and usually send them with him on Monday (I use his daily report to see how many he's going through in a day). You may want to send her with a spare refill for wipes (write her name on the outside).

He has 2 outfits there, in case of any accidents.

He has 5 bibs that are for daycare use only so I send them every Monday as well. I don't send burp cloths.

DS has cereal in the morning, which I pack and send every day. I got the Gerber bowls with the lids and just wrote his name on the top. You may want to write her name on the bottles as well, just to avoid any mixups. DS has fruit in the early afternoon so I just send 5 of them with him on Mondays (initials written on those).

Remember to send her with blankets as well and, if she needs one, a sleep positioner for her crib/bassinett.

DS goes to school in socks every day because his feet are narrow and he kicks his socks off. At DS's school, the teachers in his room wear slippers so no one is tracking dirt on the carpeting and floors where the babies crawl.

If you have any special requests or instructions, I would write them out so there is not miscommunication. Also keep in mind that if your DC is on medication that would need to be administered at school (if they're even licensed for it), they will need a note for you.

That's all I can think of for now. Good luck with everything! Chat Icon

Re: Daycare Supplies

DD is starting daycare on Monday. I bought a case of diapers and wipes that I am going to leave there.

She's only on formula, so I wil make her bottles everyday. I will probably leave about 4 changes of clothes, since she spits up alot and may need to be changed often. Most of her outfits are onesies so I don't have to worry about socks unless I put her in a "real" outfit which I probably will time to time just so she gets to wear all of her clothes.

I bought 3 crib sheets to leave there and the same tiny love mobile she has at home.

i am sure the first week will be a learning experience!

Re: Daycare Supplies

My daycare needs the following. (DS has a "drawer" with his name on it to put the "extra" supplies)

- crib sheet (+ 1 spare)
- blanket (I left specific instructions on this since I don't use it at home and hate them)
- one change of clothes for "just in case"... includes extra socks
- box of wipes
- diapers (enough for 1 week)
- diaper rash cream
- bottles labeled and caps labeled also....otherwise you can say goodbye to them.

I brought DS a mobile like the one he had at home so he would not be totally out of his environment.
